Reoccurring Nasal fissure that has actually deformed the nostril shape
!!!!! Attention !!!!!! I’ve seen numerous doctors that are unsure why I have a painful nostril fissure that will not heal. It stings like a paper cut and has literally deformed the shape of my nostril because it has gone on so long undiagnosed. I’m praying this post will reach the right eyes who can lead me down the right path. My labs look normal. I do have reoccurring anal fissures too! Currently I’m doing treatment for candida in my gut. There is a perfectly round Blister in my throat that my ENT calls a tonsil cyst. The right tonsil has lightened in color. The nasal camera showed Edema a redness and pain in and around my vocal cords for many months. My ENT said that could be from LPR reflux. The doctor now recommends tonsillectomy; but that doesn’t explain why I have a strange blister/cyst in my throat that changes it’s form, and he also can’t explain the nasal fissure that will NOT heal! Someone please help!!

Welcome @happycampers, It sounds like some of the earlier symptoms you described might also be related to the symptoms you are having now. I'm wondering if the unpleasant smell could possibly be an infection. Have you seen an ENT or doctor about the symptoms?
No actually I haven’t but I was recently treated for e-Coli for the second time but probably not related .
I have this same condition and am suffering right now. Even when it's gone the deformation you mention remains. It is very painful. I have wondered if it could be caused by drainage from a brain tumor or my reflux, which is generally well-controlled. I wonder if it could be caused by a dental condition, but have been checked out. My bloodwork also comes back all within ranges. I wonder if yours shifts from side to side depending on which side you sleep? I've wondered if this could be the case, since mine just moved from the left to the right. It is so embarrassing and disfiguring that it affects me socially. Makeup only goes so far. Even when it is not inflamed at all the deformation has people signaling me that there is something on my nose rather than just the divot. Once the fissure is there, it doesn't take much to exacerbate it. It also feels like an exposed nerve, as you might expect from such a deep wound, and literal fact. Referred pain from this condition can extend to my eye and temple. The surrounding tissue becomes turgid. Even the columella has developed underlying separation. It is difficult to treat because we don't even know whether it's a fungal or bacterial issue or neither! You can see from the photo that I am currently struggling with the right nostril but 10 days ago it was the left.
P.S. I have been dealing with this issue without relief for 25 years. An ENT told me that it was from blowing my nose "in a way that only women do" that included clearing the tip with tissue. This was not a practice I used, but he was so convinced of his theory there was no room left for dialogue.
Maybe this isn't the same thing, but I have gotten nose sores and last time went to the ENT. He cultured it and it was caused by MRSA. A lot of us can have MRSA in the nose without problems, but when you get a sore you can get infected by it. MRSA is essentially a staph infection (that is resistant to many antibiotics). I used a prescription antibiotic ointment and after two weeks, by repeat culture, the MRSA was gone. I now have a new infection in my nose that has started itching like mad. But that's a different story. I hope you all get relief soon.
i think you may be right. this is one of the things i have suspected. one of the things that makes diagnosis difficult is that it is normal to have staph in the nose. (S. aureus) would you mind sharing the name of the antibiotic ointment you were prescribed? was it Mupirocin? (Bactroban)
Yes, it is Mupirocin.
Please see an ENT and get this diagnosed. I know these are so painful and even touching it hurts.
Have you ever researched nasal vestibulitis. That's an infection I think stems from infected hair follicules. I saw it shows being caused by picking, blowing the nose but I bet there's a ton of people that get it and it has nothing to do with it. Are the scabs strictly inside or do some sores extend out of the nostrils? I had one that was one big sore from inside my nose to right under it. First time I got a nose infection the doctors said it was from sniffing drugs hahaha. So you see nothing is absolute. Don't worry about the cause unless you have an ass of a doctor and in that case take your business elsewhere.
if i could poll people who have had this condition, i'd ask if they have central air vs. window unit, if they handwash their dishes or use a dishwasher, if they pro-actively hydrate the area on a daily basis after washing both the exterior and near-interior of the affected area with Hibiclens or Dial, if they never go to bed without brushing their teeth and rinsing/gargling with salt water, if they see a dentist regularly, have ever had a root canal, if they have a lot of allergies, if they are allergic or sensitive to Kleenex. i would ask other sufferers to ask their own questions so that we can compare data/notes/things that help vs things that don't help, and insights.
