Evenity pain

Posted by jeanniebeannie54 @jeanniebeannie54, Oct 25, 2022

I have had 3 months of evenity and my left hip, thigh and buttock are so very painful I can hardly stand, lay down and not walk. Anyone experiencing horrible pain. Help.

Sheri,
Apparently, if your bones are bad enough, insurance will cover Evenity. Medicare is covering my shots. Also, they call it an “infusion “ which sounds like you’re hooked up to an IV. It’s just a shot. Two shots in each arm.

Susan,
I just had a long conversation with the medical assistant at my doctor and she highly suggests that I do the Evenity wth my history so I told her to go ahead and get it set up. I am legit petrified, but from what she said could happen with me not building any bone at my age, it won't be good. That scares me even more. Hope it's ok if I keep in touch. Not sure when my first shot will be yet, she has to check insurance. But, you've been so sweet responding, I just wanted to let you know. Sheri

Have they offered for you to self inject the Evenity ? That is my plan to self inject. Can I also ask you what your T score was of your spine. My t score is -4.6. I am also very anxious about starting this.

REPLY

They talked about self-injection but it wasn't the Evenity. I said no right away so they didn't even tell me the drug for the self injection. My t-score is -3.8.

If on Medicare, self injection would fall under Part D while injection at a medical facility would be covered under Part B.

If I'm not on Medicare yet, is there any type of assistance co-pay program for the Evenity? When I was on the Prolia for the past 6 years, they had a co-pay assistance program and I never had to pay more the $25.00 for the shot. I can't afford Evenity if it is $5,000.00 plus for those shots? Does anyone know about an assistance program if you are not on Medicare yet? Thank you

I should edit my last post. I meant ONE shot - one in each arm = 2 shots. Sorry. Confusing.

Yes Amgen the maker of Evenity does have a co-pay assistance program, your MD should be able to set it up for you, mind did. My cost was $25 plus my Insurance co-pay for the office visit for the nurse to give the injection.
Wishing you well when taking Evenity.

Yes, I had achy hips about 6 mos in. Because it wasn’t both sides initially I was told it wasn’t the Evenity. I decided to stick it out but by 10 mos I felt like my muscles were going to snap, they felt brittle and felt like arthritis throughout my body. I am very active, ski, hike, mountain bike so in decent shape. I feel like the Evenity definitely gave me hip pain where I couldn’t pick something up off the floor until I moved around for about an hour. I stopped after 11 months as I couldn’t deal with aches and pains where I had none prior. My DEXA scores improved 49% in spine and 14 femur and only a little in hip. I’m on Fosomax now as I didn’t want to do Reclast a year long lasting injection after the adverse reactions from Evenity. It’s been 6 months since last injections and aching as gone away mostly but during this year of Evenity I have had tennis elbow for no reason and now have a torn rotator cuff from who knows what. I am wondering if the awful brittleness I felt while on Evenity this past year has contributed to my current muscle issues? Idk but need surgery to repair tendon. Just be aware of symptoms that are not normal for you. I wish I had stopped sooner but I usually just push through things to completion! Hope this helps you with your decisions.

Oh my goodness. I am so sorry for you. I appreciate you telling me your story. I hope it gets better for you. It sounds like your scores improved a lot, but at what cost :o(((( I know my doctor said if I felt bad on it, they would stop it. I just haven't decided if I want to go through with it. I am continuing to read everyone's stories and appreciate all of the feedback. It really helps me. Thank you Laura and, as I said, I hope you feel better soon :o)
