**latest update** - Statin for Covid
I thought this info would be helpful since we NEED to keep in the know and whatever we can do for support in helping one another.
Since we now know Covid attacks are blood cells and is no longer a "lung" issue as originally thought, I came across some info on Gov site, immune and disease specialist's site as well as doctors reports that taking a Statin drug prevents severe Covid and hospitalization.
Oddly enough, between my friends, colleagues, neighbors and family who are on a statin drug, did NOT catch Covid, to include my brother who was in a household with folk who had Covid!
Per the report, since Covid causes severe inflammation in our body due to the virus attaching itself and attack our blood, the statin is preventing Covid from going rampant and attacking our blood cells.
I'm curious, how many folks on this site are on a statin? I'm guessing not many and those that are won't be on this site because they either recovered just fine or never got Covid.

Sorry, I have been on a statin for over 20 years and have had long covid for a year.
I had a double cytokine storm in March (glutened and covid). Hubby and I were vaxxed and boosted, and 68 yo. He is on low-dose statins and I am not. I still have mild long covid. He was asymptomatic other than a slight dry cough. He wouldn't have even tested for covid if I wasn't positive. There are a number of peer-reviewed pubs in ResearchGate on effects of statin on hospitalized and other patients.
I'm on a statin and still caught Covid. I was lucky and took Paxlovid the day following diagnosis and it kicked it in no time at all. But statin did not help me from getting the virus.
@arthur - Yes, you were fortunate to take Paxlovid, my Doc wouldn't prescribe anything.
I'm assuming contrary to taking Paxlovid, you still got LT Covid? Otherwise, you wouldn't be on the forum I'm guessing.
I was not on any medications prior to Covid. Tried a course of statins twice during long covid and had no improvement.
I was on a statin before, during, and after COVID. I had a bad case in March 2021 and continue to suffer from Long COVID since. I went through the breathing issues, the rapid heart rate, daily fevers, numbness, tingling, and pain, brain fog, and fatigue. I’m still dealing with constant fatigue and pain throughout my body on a daily basis. I also continue to forget words and names.
I had the same issues as you. Came down in Jan21. In the hospital for 11 days. Be on statins since I was about 60. Got the covid vaccine 19 on March 14. woke up the next and I thought I had covid all over again. It lasted 6 days like full days with fever and chills and my o2 level went way down. Had oxygen at home till October. Had and vaccine in August and it was worse. Had Myocardia attack. Went to pulmonologist who end up draining. a liter of fluid out the left side of chest. Had 6 cardio procedures in the meantime. Statin BS
I too had been on a statin when I got Covid, though I have since stopped it because of the side effects from the drug.
To summerof42 - I’ve been on pravastatin for a number of years. Been fully vaxxed and boosted. Caught mild case of COVID last Feb. and took Paxlovid. Have had long covid since with pulmonary, cardiac and GI issues. Guess at least I’m still alive??
I’m on a statin and never had high cholesterol until after CoVID. I got CoVID, for the first time in 2/2020 prior to any vaccines et al. Low cholesterol and when I went back in went from 175 to 270. Have responded well to statins but I was pretty shocked how quickly it went up
