I have Myasthenia Gravis and take three pyridostigmine tablets a day (each 60 mg.). I was diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago). I also have Type 2 diabetes and stage 3a kidney disease. I am scheduled for a colonoscopy this week. It will be done in a hospital with MAD anathesia and am anesthesiologist on hand just in case. However, I have been given SuTabs as my prep. I am apprehensive about taking it. Is it safe for me to take?
I also have MG and take generic Mestinon. I had a colonoscopy a few months back, and the GI office prescribed SuTab as the prep. Since magnesium sulfate is one of the ingredients and magnesium can lead to muscle weakness in MG, I was reluctant to take it. The GI office tried to tell me that all the preps contained magnesium, so I was about ready to cancel my colonoscopy when they came up with a PEG prep that did not. I found it extremely frustrating that not only were my concerns not being taken seriously but I was actually given incorrect information. If I were you, I would ask about alternatives to SuTab. I have no idea whether the PEG prep is a problem for diabetics or kidney disease, but I agree with you about being apprehensive about taking SuTabs.

Hello @ellen307
It is good to hear from you again. I'm glad that you are doing better and finding worthwhile activities to keep you engaged. I take it that the change in your medication has also helped you with blood sugar control.
Stress control is important for all of us with chronic health issues. I'm glad that you are working on that as well. It sounds like the book about Dale Armstrong has been inspiring. I'll have to look for that!
Will you post again as you have questions and thoughts?

I am having good results with both MG symptoms and Type 2 diabetes since I started adding berberine to my daily diet
@chri. Can I ask what berberine is and where did you learn of it?
Berberine is a supplement that has been popular long ago and is getting some attention these days in researches for its anti-inflamatory and other benefits. You can find a lot of information on the internet.
