Anyone had experience with OsteoStrong, who is not a franchisee?

Has anyone had experience with OsteoStrong? It suggests you will get a large increase in bone density while using their facility 10 minutes per WEEK. Somewhat pricey at $99 and up per month, but am curious if anyone who is NOT a franchisee, has experienced this program?

I am wondering if you could share a link to the NASA studies or what is the hz recommended? Thank you and best wishes on your journey.

To those buying vibration platforms -BEWARE- your bones respond and are safe at only a certain level of intensity , amplitude, etc. The input needs to be very light, hence -LIV -low intensity vibration!!!! You need to do some research as many platforms on the market are UNSAFE!
The Marodyne is safe , but expensive~$ 3000. I think there is one more that is safe, but I’m at camp and don’t recall. Goggle Marodyne LIV platform , or Clint Rubin related to
The LIV- he developed that platform. Stay Safe while trying to improve your bone quality rather than having a potential set back. The Marodyne has most affect on the quality of bones in the spine/lumber area as those are more trabecular (“soft” for lack of a better term ) in nature than hard, cortical bone. Like the bones in your hips, forearms, etc. The femoral neck hip is also somewhat trabecular in nature.
Good luck !!!

Morning ginginrummy~
Thank you for your interest in the Nasa studies re: bone density. I would google that very issue..."Nasa bone density studies"...there are many different studies going on. Being in anti-gravity exposure for even a limited time does cause bone and muscle degrading..so Nasa has sought out ways of re-establishing healthy bone strength and muscles with various remedies. Margaret Martin has many videos on ways of dealing with osteoporosis that are ameloritory and not destructive. She also is now selling her own type of a vibration plate. I believe that the hz limit for rebuilding bone is around 40....a lot of the machines out there vibrate at a much higher hz that could prove to be unhealthy to use..at they could cause further damage to already compromised bones. I'm finding that most of the comments people write about also have many other problems going on..so it's never a 'one side fits 'all' remedy.
I'm coming up to being 79 and while I was quite an athlete in my youth and mid life..at this stage..I'm not willing to cause further harm to my bones with any extreme measures. ...I gave away my tennis rackets as well as my pickleball gear. I don't need another fall! It takes time and energy to turn around the numbers most of us face with the osteo diagnosis and numbers. I have not had another DEXA for a couple of years now and maybe will not do another..as I'm really doing all I can at this point without taking medications for osteo. I fear the contraindications and at my age and feeling as well as I do with 3 compression fx's and a bulging disc..also bone on bone knees...I choose quality of everyday life and not expecting miracles. I do do a lot of natural supplements..collagen, Bone-up, glucosamine sulfate, turmeric extracts, stonthiem, to name a few....I also walk briskly with walking poles, over a mile, to take some weight off of my knees..walking into pain is not helpful for anyone. I would strongly suggest to all to NOT go to OsteoStrong or any place that calls for extreme measures as bones that are already compromised do not need to have that kind of stress placed upon them. I feel that I caused 2 of my compression frx's when I did go for one treatment and was told that I needed to 'press" 4x's my body weight...which came to over 575lbs of pressure. I felt the immediate pain in my thoracic region and sure enough, I did have 2 additional frx's. The one that I did know about was caused by a mis-marked step which caused me to trip, I caught myself on a small fence and slammed my mid back into that instead of doing a faceplant. I didn't have x rays then..but later found out that I did indeed have a compression frx of my T-8...then after the Osteostrong treatment, I had 2 additional frx's of T-9 and T-10 . The amount of weight 'they' asked me to maintain..even for the few seconds..coupled with the high hz of their vibration plate, I feel caused further harm. So beware of what you do! I would strongly advise doing strength exercises, walking...staying active...eat a healthy diet..have a positive outlook..as many of us can get down on ourselves with the amount of different things going on as we age to bring us down and cause depression. I'm still 5'4"..and weigh 125lb. so that being...I can't assume to now do extreme things to remedy my bones..other than being smart about it and staying active and grateful for the otherwise good health I do have. I do have a vibration plate that I stand on that has the lowest hz..being at 40hz. I also use my far-infrared belt when I do get mid back pain as well as a heat wrap...that feels really good and does take away the pain when I do get it. I don't lift more than 9lbs any longer..(the weight of a gallon bottle of water) when I can avoid it. I wear a back brace when I vacuum or do anything that is out of my normal living. I wish you well on your journey as well. I try and stay in the 'now' and not worry about tomorrow...just getting through each day with gratitude and trying my best to be kind and helpful to others. Be kind to yourself first! Hope this helps you.

Just to clarify a bit more - the LIV platform Margaret Martin highlights on her website actually is the Marodyne, the one Clint Rubin designed with the astronauts in mind. If you sign onto Margaret Martins website to get her info and if you decide to buy a a Marodyne platform you can get a $200.00 reduction in price. Margaret Martin hosts Clint Rubin discussing the Marodyne so they’ve worked that out together. The cost is around $3000.00c, so expensive , but for me it targets the exact area I need help …. In my lumbar spine. Good luck to all!!!

Morning ans~
Great new info...thank you so much for sharing as well as all your info. Please let us all know how well you do with this new vibration plate! That's 3 grand Canadian..which I still believe to be a bit lower than our current money?
I have a life-pro plate and finally got the answer from them that the lowest setting in the 'walk' position is around 40hz.
Best to you ....bunky

A trial called VIBMOR has had the active phase completed and the results will hopefully be published by year end. This trial will show the results of using the Marodyne low intensity vibration plate on bone density. There will be a group doing weights plus the Marodyne and a group using the Marodyne only. You can see the trial protocol and purpose here: https://trialsjournal.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s13063-021-05911-4.

This is being done by the same group that did the excellent LIFTMOR trials showing bone density improvement with heavy weight training. One of their previous trials showed heavy free weight training per their protocol compared to the device used by Osteostrong.
Free weights done per their protocol won! Dr Rubin the Marodyne device creator is also involved in the VIBMOR trial.
This should give us much needed info on how well low intensity vibration can work for us.

If done with and guided by a certified trainer, not by yourself, BioDensity, osteogenic loading, is a safe and has scientifically proven health benefits (by improving muscle strength, balance and bone density). I go to a place called WholeBodySystems in Georgia and it has really helped me in many ways. Absolutely no injuries or pain, and I am monitored by a certified therapist at all times while doing the 4 exercises on the BioDensity unit. Everyone's results will be different of course and nothing is a miracle cure but every little bit counts if done in moderation and correctly. They also provide low intensity PowerPlate vibration sessions which also can help to build bone/muscle and improve balance, again supervised/monitored, which is key. Highly recommend them. I also recommend Margaret Martin's info, posts and videos. She is very knowledgable on osteoporosis. Research is key.

I am also curious about this. I have joined Osteo strong, but I’m also debating if I need to take the supplements. Does anyone know if the research indicates the success rate with and without the supplements they suggest? I have done strength, training and impact exercises, all of my adult years, and yet have been diagnosed with osteoporosis.

Tikigod18, how did you turn out with OsteoStrong? I note your original post was January 2019!! It is great that you wanted to build stronger bones and wonder if OsteoStrong was a success for you. I went to my local OsteoStrong facility in January 2023 as I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis. I was also preparing for a 3-level fusion, which I have now had in May/June 2023, and therefore I needed to build bone quickly. Unfortunately, when I met with my Endocrinologist he advised that I NOT risk this type of activity due to the slippage (Spondylolisthesis) in my lower spine. He advised that I continue my current exercise program of walking, lifting weights and begin monthly injections of Evenity. Please update us on your progress. God Bless us all as we take care of our aging bones:)

I have been going to osteostrong 5 months. Have damaged a disc and been advised by my physio to cease attending.
Osteostrong was designed based upon young healthy fit returning astronauts not older women who have a myriad of issues.
It’s a very powerful tool but not one designed your older bodies.
Be careful. They also get you to sign away your rights in case of injury.

Absolutely agree re Osteostrong. I caused lumbar disc damage.
These 4 machines were developed fir very fit, young healthy astronauts, to assist them with rebuilding bone density after having been in space. They are not intended for older people who by default of age will have many issues. Be VERY careful here.
