Are you considering HIPEC?

I’m not sure if I’m a candidate. My surgeon in Ohio says it’s too risky, quality of life issues, etc. I have an appt at Mayo on august 16 and 17 and will meet with a surgeon.

I know it must be a terribly difficult situation trying to navigate advanced cancer treatments along with risk and quality of life issues. I'm hoping you can get all of your questions answered at your upcoming Mayo Clinic appoint in mid August. Did you see the post by @beachdog in the Hot chemotherapy for late-stage cancers discussion - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/771578/.

Do you mind sharing an update after your Mayo appointment?

I will, for sure. It's so hard to navigate all this. I didn't see the post by beach dog, but I'll check it out. Thanks John.

Did you have any complications? Did you have HIPEC at time of surgery. Are you doing chemotherapy or immunotherapy? Trying to gather as much info as I can. I meet with Dr, Grotz on the 27th or 28th. My appointments got all screwed up....lol

Hey Jake first of all I am so glad to hear that you are seeing Dr.Grotz prior to surgery they said it would take 9 hrs. It took 11 hrs Dr.Grotz checked 27 lymph nodes which were all negative for any cancer so for my surgery I was told there were no complications. I did not have the Hipec because my cancer was only IN my stomach. I had 4 rounds of chemo FLOT than a pet scan Grotz said my tumor was almost completely dead according to the pet scan that was great news so he had me do 4 more rounds of chemo FLOT so here is a rundown of what I had.
Diagnosis in march of 2022 4 rounds of chemo FLOT pet scan 4 more rounds of chemo FLOT than my surgery in August my recovery was very good it was 4 days and on me second day I was eating solid foods. Well I hope this helps if not let me know 😁. Dave
