What antibiotics does anyone take if you are sick?

Being we have MAC, if you are sick with respiratory cold or strep throat, what do you do?

I don’t have an answer for that BUT I know NOT to take Macroloids!!! (Sp)

@med08 Well, if you are sick with a cold or other virus, no antibiotic will cure it. Antibiotics work only on bacteria. If you have diagnosed strep throat, the usual treatment is penicillin, amoxycillin, or augmentin unless you are already on the Big-3, then nothing more is usually prescribed.

@med08 Well, if you are sick with a cold or other virus, no antibiotic will cure it. Antibiotics work only on bacteria. If you have diagnosed strep throat, the usual treatment is penicillin, amoxycillin, or augmentin unless you are already on the Big-3, then nothing more is usually prescribed.

I am on the big 3 plus IV amikacin. My specialist advised augmentine if this is of any help to you

Can’t take those with penicillin allery. Call your Dr. I have been given Doxycycline, Biaxin, Omnicef
