COPD for my 72 year old Mum breathing prob's and stomach pain
Hi there Everyone. I am writing to ask if anyone only experiences breathing problems when sitting up. She also asks for a cold pack for her tummy for the left side mainly. I have researched Dr. Google as the dr. is at a loss. She can't do a lung capacity as she can't take a deep enough breathe either. I have read that some experience severe tummy pains lower/left due to a hardening there somewhere. She isn't eating alot because that makes her uncomfy as well. She isn't having milk anymore to my knowledge as she is in a home. She is also on drugs for schizophrenia which is controlled and is doing ok with that. I would be ever so grateful for any feedback as she often says she feels like she is dying and is very scared. Take Care Everyone

When a person coughs a lot with COPD, it will work the stomach muscles until they hurt. Hopefully they are giving her something to help with the cough. I had pain medicine that helped with my stomach pain. That and the cough medicine helped me get through it. I wish her and you the best.
Thankyou so much for taking the time to reply. Mum doesn’t cough at all. Even more weird is she really only needs oxygen if she is sitting up. Maybe when laying down it isn’t as much pressure on the organs. I am at a loss. I hope you are taking care. Cheers
It's strange the way things work for different people. I don't have a clue because it is working the opposite for me with laying down and being able to get enough oxygen. I guess we aren't meant to understand, Except for the doctors who should be able to answer your questions and have faith that things will happen the way our future dictates. I am playing the waiting game myself and trying to be patient while waiting for answers. It sure isn't easy, but necessary. So many have been through the same things that we are dealing with. As far as eating, I use the boost energy drink and it helps. It's hard to just have faith, and there are books that explain how to do it, some of us are better at it than others. I hope you find your answers and peace while you wait. Just keep doing like you are doing and keep asking for answers until you find someone who has been through it. Best of luck to you and mom. Take care.
Thankyou so much for caring.... please take care yourself and i hope there is sunshine in your day today.
Thank you for that.
