Carpal tunnel like symptoms post COVID

I just want to share some of my experience. The vaccines certainly made things worse for me; we’re not sure, but looking at that being the cause. My carpal tunnel symptoms started just weeks after my first “booster “ in 2021. I continue to have severe carpal tunnel. I had carpal tunnel release surgery on left hand several months ago and hand still hurts when used. Hands are numb, as right now, writing on my phone is very difficult and frankly I usually don’t bother anymore. I also now have MCAS autoimmune disease and I can tell you that when I have inflammation in my body, my hands really bother me. My hands were not as bad as they are now,until I became very ill with a rare spinal bacterial infection and now, I am in constant MCAS reaction due to infection and my hands hurt very bad when I try to use my phone for reading or texting. I’ve also had numbness in face, chest, arms, legs. I’m so sorry to read of so many suffering. I’ve lost hope, myself. I go to the long covid clinic at the University of Texas in Austin. I feel more like an animal being studied than a human in need. I often feel gaslighted by doctors. I think the covid shots made my MCAS worse. Now, my adrenal gland is not functioning well with a dhea of 12; I am a 55 female. Previously healthy but with hyperthyroidism. I developed long covid 6 months after 1st 7/2020 infection and immediately following my first covid shot. I developed long covid immediately following the 1st shot (within 1 month) brought back all of my covid symptoms. All I know for sure is that my MCAS reactions are making my hands useless. I think covid infections and the covid vaccines cause my body considerable inflammation causing some kind of neural inflammation. I’m not a doctor, just a patient. Or maybe some type of circulatory inflammation. I don’t know. But, I have given up on getting straight forward answers and until the medical community can quantify and measure this illness and cause in a scientific manner, I don’t expect answers or even suggestions. Why can’t we even get suggestions. I blame in part, our litigious culture in the US. I don’t know. I’m a somewhat ignorant patient, never experiencing anything like this before. It took me a very long time to type this out on my phone and I usually just don’t bother anymore. I also feel that I am in a minority cohort and nobody really cares or possibly lack of funds explain the lack of interest. I’m sorry; this post is probably quite useless.

My hands have been very sore. For a while in the beginning I couldn't type, but that is ok now, but.the weakness is in my fingers. My right hand is weaker than my left, & I am right handed. It's livable. My neurologist wants me to get a.EMG test.

No it is not useless. Since there is a woeful lack of medical care for long covid, the experiences of other sufferers is of benefit. We can learn from each other. Thank you for making the considerable effort to share.

Ephrum, you are absolutely correct! I just reread my post, it was quite glum and my current health issues have something to do with that. I need to correct course a bit. I’m very fortunate to be working with the long covid clinic and the doctors they refer me to. I’m just a bit down right now. Thanks for the gentle reminder 😉

I had COVID in December 2021 and developed pain in both arms, numbness, tingling, hands falling asleep, dropping things, etc. Diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel in 2023 after complaining for so long about the pain.
