Need a breast cancer buddy who has been through it (triple negative)

Posted by denise66 @denise66, Jun 21, 2023

I was just recently diagnosed with triple positive stage 1 Breast Cancer. I start chemo next week. 6 rounds of chemo once every 3 weeks followed by radiation then lumpectomy.

I would very much appreciate it if I could talk on the phone with someone who had gone through this journey. Especially chemo and being HER2 positive. I really don’t know what to expect with chemo and it’s giving me anxiety.

Would anyone who went through this journey be willing to talk to me?

I’m being treated at Mayo in AZ.

Thank you

Denise

I cannot do phone but I am er+ her2+, I had seven surgeries and chemo and radiation and endocrine therapy. I do not mind a private message for sensitive questions, but I think there is benefit to discussing the majority of things on the forum. Statistics here on connect show that many more people get benefit than actually post. I understand some things are just easier to talk about privately.
I took taxotere , Adriamycin, and Cytoxin for the first 6 rounds. Do you know what your regimen will be yet?

Hi Denise @denise66

Good to see you back on the board. Sorry you have to go through this. I did not do chemo and the details of my situation are much different than yours, but it looks like zeerj might be the perfect buddy for you with similar treatments and even being treated at the same location. Please keep us posted on your progress. Blessings to you, Zebra

Hi Denise. I would be happy to talk to you by telephone.

Over four years ago I too was diagnosed with stage one triple positive lobular breast cancer.

I had chemotherapy, lumpectomy, radiation and now have been on Anastrozole (for hormone positive treatment) for four years now. I’m glad to say that I’m doing very well! You will too.

I now live near Pittsburgh but grew up in Arizona. I actually worked in oncology for the Mayo Clinic for over nine years. You’re in very good hands!

I’ve worked for the American Cancer Society for over 15 years and now I’m retired and a Reach To Recovery volunteer.

You can private message me to exchange phone numbers. I am in the eastern time zone.

Please know that the first few months of your journey is the toughest but you’ll be okay.

Looking forward to speaking with you. ♥️

Hi there, well, I was diagnosed with stage 4 M breast cancer in August 2022 it is, now June 2023.
I went on a pill for chem in October of this year and stopped at the end of November.
My reason for stopping the chemo pill is that my side effects were too severe for me to handle.
Please remember that this pill and its side effects do not affect everyone; it is a good chemo choice.
To make the long story short, the chemo pill for me quieted down cancer in my lungs.
I must have my every six months Pet Scans to see how I am doing. My following scan is in August of the year.
I also have been on a hormone estrogen blocker since my cancer diagnosis.
It is called exemestane.
So I am ok
Best to you all on your journey,

Hello,

I very happy to hear that you are stable! Yea! Are you also working with a naturopathic doctor? They may be able to help. Consider looking up Paul stamens on YouTube. He gives a Tedtalk and talks about his mothers breast cancer which was stage 4 and know NED. She did conventional therapy plus mushrooms. You can get through this.

My therapist neighbor was diagnosed with stage 4 eight years ago. She’s doing very well.

Thank you for reaching out to me. Sending you lots of love and prayers.

I have read all the remarks and the pain associated with estrogen blockers. I never thought about asking my oncologist to get a test for estrogen levels.

Also here I am sitting with pain in both of my hands and no strength in either. This has come on in the 8 weeks.
I am very weak and only work in and around the home for about an hour at a time. Maybe this is also is the cause of taking the estrogen blocker.
Now I am wondering if my estrogen levels come back a 0 , maybe i should stop taking the exe pill.

This is me, same thing. I had a radical mastectomy and currently on Taxol chemo. I've had 6 of the 12 treatments and had one sick day. I take treatments weekly. Following these 12 weeks, I continue treatments once every 3 weeks. I cannot remember it (currently taking it as well), but I will have it for one year. Started losing my hair after week 2. That's hard! I drink massive amounts of water. I believe dairy caused my bad day because a couple of other times I had dairy I did not feel so well. Chemo completely wipes me out. I sleep for a few hours after returning. I chose not to have reconstruction. Having the chemo is not as difficult as I had imagined and is much better than when I was diagnosed and fearful for what was upcoming. Good luck. I went to MD Anderson and have zero regrets (12 hours from my home).
