Low Platelets: Anyone else go through this?

Which trial are you going to do? Do you mean MD Anderson is where you are going?

Going to national cancer inst,in bethesda md.The trial is specific to the ATM gene mutation ,which I have.

Have you asked about Neulasta? It pushes platelets faster from bone marrow. Spouse gets an infusion every month or so to keep platelets up. We were asvised t take Claritin before and during the next few days after treatment as it makes most people feel lousy.

@howleegirl, has your husband's platelets recovered? Has he been able to get his next treatment?

he got a "partial" treatment on the 6th. His platelets are getting higher.

I am having the same issue with platelets being too low After just two rounds of Gem/ Abraxane. I am not sure why nothing is being given to boost them. Any thoughts? I will be asking onco when we meet. Thanks-

I got a Neulasta shot at the end of EVRRY fulfurinox treatment. Nevertheless, after about 7 they still sunk very low. Once or twice I was given infusions of platelets and asked to try and focus on protein but they did say diet alone doesn’t bring up platelets from numbers below “10”. It’s mostly time and infusions if they will give.

A doctor said that platelets need to be at a level of 50k before there is a concern.
Mine dropped also to 107, low but still okay.

I think the Neulasta is to raise your neutrophils.
