Shingles causing Neuro Auto Immune

Posted by leannestork @leannestork, Jun 18, 2023

Hi everyone. Shingles in mouth, eye, ear, head … since had lightening prickles in my legs and multiple other problems that cross with my Lupus and Fibro. A professor believes that due to the severe case lucky I was already in lyrica at the time that it would have affected my spinal cord as well causing havoc. My question is ….has anyone else had this and is there light at the end of the tunnel.
Oh and I also had a spur grow into my spinal cord which they removed and put a cage over c567. If it helps anyone in that time there were a lot of acid foods I could not eat. As soon as the spur was removed I can now eat it. I hear guy and spinal cord are developed at the same time as well. I had also lost most of my hair which is coming and going again over time. They put me on chemo now changed to immune suppressant they give heart lung transplants patients. It goes on but incase I can help others or vice versa I’m here to help
Take Care Everyone

Hi @leannestork, Welcome to Connect. Sorry to hear you have shingles. My wife's twin sister had a bad case on her face awhile back and it was really painful for her but it did eventually clear up with treatment within a month. Mayo Clinic has some information on Shingles here that might be helpful - https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/shingles/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20353060,

Wow, sorry you have shingles in your head. I had shingles when recovering from my mastectomy 10 years ago. It was mostly on my chest and some on my back. It caused extreme pain. I can't take any pain meds. I couldn't sleep at all not only from pain, but because I couldn't put pressure on it so no bed or recliner. I had to sit up without touching anything. The pain was in my chest and back only (ribcage front and back) and did not travel to limbs. I piled pillows on my desk to rest my head on and sat in my desk chair trying to sleep without leaning back. I might have dozed off a few times. The good news is that it only lasted 2.5 weeks for me. I hope yours goes away soon. Blessings.

Oh my goodness that is terrible glad you came through it. Mine was five years ago but it’s the aftermath of neurological problems afterwards. Take care because stress is the enemy xo

Hello all, that have been affected by shingles. I heard about how an OTC item can be of great use with the elusive and painful symptoms of shingles. Google 'Tagament'....very interesting studies and well-researched clinical trials.
Tagamet is primarily used for digestive problems...but has been shown to be of great support for the shingles virus. Amazing results.
I wish you all the best with this terrible affliction.

That’s very interesting. When I had the misfortune of getting shingles, I was going through chemo-radiation. My oncologist quickly got me on the prescription anti-viral to reportedly help lessen the duration/severity, but told me to get some liquid Maalox (not Mylanta, he said Maalox) to pour on the outbreak area as a topical, as one would use a calomine type lotion. Interesting that it’s the same type of GI product like you’ve discovered. I’ll add that in 2020 for whatever reason I couldn’t find Maalox ANYWHERE. I called around, online shopped to no avail. I finally found, on Amazon, a generic equivalent for a reasonable price that I could get sent overnight, and I will say it worked just like my oncologist said! I haven’t needed to look for Maalox for anything since then. I’m not sure if 2020 Pandemic caused a shortage back then, but if it’s available now I’d recommend it for a topical shingles remedy.
