Hi, Kitty: Ion Gut Support (not gut "health" as I wrote previously) is a liquid humic extract product that is supposed to protect against toxins and help gut microbiome health. I buy it on Amazon; it is tasteless and odorless, and you just add a teaspoon of it to whatever you're drinking three times a day. The L-glutamine I buy is a powder; I use one scoop (it's a tiny scoop included in the product) a day. It is supposed to help gut integrity, among other things.
Re: your UC. I was on steroids 13 years without a break. I am now on Entyvio and am doing well. Perhaps talk to your gastroenterologist about Entyvio or another of the several biologics that are currently being used to treat UC. Wishing you the best!
P.S. I don't buy the Pure Encapsulations L-Glutamine on Amazon, as sellers are charging ridiculous prices for it. My doctor's office sells it cheaper, and I imagine that there are other sites online that do as well.

Hi..thanks for your reply..much appreciated. They want me on Entyvio, I am scared of it due to the side effects. I have a unruptured brain aneurysm along with long covid syndrome which kicked my immune system pretty hard. I had remicade many years ago and did not do well. I also do not tolerate many drugs well, I am not on any treatment at this time. I was on Budesonide 9mg for 8 months which was a total nighmere for me. I would love to connect with your on your Entyvio experience when you have time. Thanks so much..kitty2
I am a concerned parent of my son B-rad. He has always had difficulty to speak for himself. He was seen by an allergy specialist and a general practitioner. Both look at him like nothings wrong. Bloodwork was for allergies. Which he really has none. He looks healthy except when he balloons out with swelling and hives.

I researched this since my wife and I both have inflammation problems. She has microscopic
colitis with typical IBS symptoms.
Beets and beet juice are anti-inflammatory in the GI system.
Same good reports for pomegranate juice. I consider turmeric helpful. Avoid sugar and artificial sweeteners. Stevia without erythritol and agave are better. Don’t forget added vitamin D is a key immune modulator and may not be readily absorbed in IBD. Avoid gluten, even non celiac
sufferers can benefit from eliminating most of it from our diet. Fodmap in my opinion is just
lessening symptoms not as relevant as an anti inflammatory
diet trial. Journal your food and symptoms and be consistent in your routine if your lifestyle allows. Very difficult to find healthy fast foods. Many restaurants and making an effort
for diet conscious customers.
If he hasn't yet, he should get a patch allergy test done, they do that on the arm or back and not just a blood test. Those hives and/or swellings are too close to his throat.
This looks like his body is reacting to something. It can be anything from a food he eats, perfumes or scents from products, chemicals he comes into contact with, detergent his clothes are washed in.
I suggest starting with keeping a daily journal of what he eats to see if there is a pattern when he gets the hives that can be connected to the foods he has consumed.
I also suggest going to another allergist who will do more. It appears he’s reacting to something and it’s going to take being like a detective to figure it out.

Hi, Kitty: My understanding is that Entyvio works specifically in the gut; it's not a full body immune suppressant like Remicade. I was on Remicade for 13 years, but had to go off of it because I developed lupus, though not from the Remicade. (My immune system system is out of whack and did that all on its own.) I did fairly well on the Remicade and wonder what happened with you, as you said you didn't do well.
In any event, I have had no discernible side effects so far from the Entyvio. I have many illnesses -- lupus, celiac sprue, UC, heart failure, chronic active Epstein Barr/chronic fatigue syndrome, and osteoporosis -- and I am extremely chemical/fragrance/drug sensitive. Perhaps I've been lucky that the IV drugs have worked for my UC; I was hospitalized when I was on steroids, the colitis was out of control.
Not meaning to push at all, but still wonder if you should at least talk to your gastro about the Entyvio, as its mechanism apparently is different than the Remicade's. I believe it also works differently than Budesonide. Is it the brain aneurysm that causes your concern about Entyvio side effects?
Hi Bayhorse! You seem to know a lot about MCS. Perhaps you can guide me! I have been sick/ill going on 14 years. I literally suddenly woke up one morning feeling like I had the flu. It was so severe I was placed on disability with a Lupus label due to my severity of my symptoms. Fast forward. I have MCS, gluten intolerance, sugar alcohol intolerance, food intolerances. Not one doctor can tell me how this occurred. My symptoms are flu like symptoms, brain fog, dry eyes, hives weakness, headache, nausea etc. When these flare ups occur I go to bed for days at a time. My medications for treating these episodes are Advil, pepto bismol, Medrol dose pack and rest. Tysvm!
P.S. I don't buy the Pure Encapsulations L-Glutamine on Amazon, as sellers are charging ridiculous prices for it. My doctor's office sells it cheaper, and I imagine that there are other sites online that do as well.

These are the hives that come and go. They move, they change positions.. very scary for him and his new wife..
Excellent info to share. Totally agree!
