Every day I cough up what looks like a scab with ugly mucous and blood

Have been reading here and have same symptomps like most have ... at least i have the scab every few days and sore throat after its released.
I like to share my process.... and specially the simple solution.

I'm 38, grew up in a tropical country and now live in Switzerland since age 20. (so Humid air, then mostly dry air)
Anyway I went to the ENT to have a check (its a renown ENT here in Switzerland... in 3rd generation
I think that it's just important to do in any case, to check if you don't have any other issues.
The ENT didnt find anything, after checking with camera.

He prescribed me an oil i should put in my nose 1-2 times per day. (at laest once before sleeping)
And to "Noseshower" with saline solution, 2 times per day.
After 1-2 Weeks of use i don't have anymore scabs.

He said it is something that won't go away, but will get better with treatment. (oil and nose shower).
I will try to reduce the use of oil over time, not to let my skin get used to it to much.

The oil he prescribed is called Coldastop (It has allot of Vitamin A and E inside to help heal skin fast, it's used for after operation mostly or strongly damaged noseskin), i hope you all can buy it in your country or atealst something similar to give it a try.

If not can give me a Personal message here, and i will try and get it for you. (unfortunatly will be about 35-45$ for 20ml inkl. shipping)

Thank you. I agree with your statement. I do notice when we were in Fiji, where there is high humidity, I didn't have a problem. I use a nasal rinse and a humidifier by my bed and that helps reduce how often I get the scabs. I don't know about this oil though. Do you just rub it inside your nose or are you supposed to let it run back toward your sinuses? I will check and see if I can find some. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.

I lean back and let it run down while squeesing my nose sometimes to let it spread around my nose wall. It has a pipette dispenser... i like the pump one more although you will put to much then. Its quite runny so it will run down throat, and also when you lean back up it will run out of nose slightly.

I checked online a bit to find a product a bit more international. I found this on Amazon "Ponaris Nasal Emolient", i didnt try it but if you read the reviews its used for similar symptoms. Maybe start with this then switch to a "normal" sesam oil for nose like mentioned below.

Can also go to a local Pharmacy and ask for a nose oil, usualy they have ones with sesam oil, im sure they work also, for acute damage i whould try to find one that is in the upper price segment then switch to the cheaper one once you feel like your skin is healed again.

I’m going to try NozAid (on Amazon) because it’s an oil spray so looks easier to use.

Maybe I was not very clear with explanation... oil need to run down into the sinuses (between nose and throat), not only nose. Just so that it is clear for everyone.

Nozaid should do the trick also.
I just whouldn't use those salinesolution sprays... even if they have some oil or other stuff in it. It need to be oil to heal and soothe your skin.
And If you can never use Nasivin or something that reduce swelling in nose, to get a quick relieve.

So far I like the NozAid, too soon to see if it will help. I do have to lie down after using it to allow it to run down the back, but it seems to administer just the right amount.

So glad I found this thread! I have been dealing with the same issue off and on for probably a year - I am 53. I wont share a picture as they look the same as the others but I get them about every 3 days. I feel a slight sore throat and then am able to fairly easily bring up the scab - blood tinged mucus. I always thought it had to do with dry membranes as sometimes in the dry winter months I get some blood when I blow my nose. I have never mentioned it to a Dr but started to become concerned recently as it appears to be happening more regularly.

dapapa - are you using the oil and saline solution every day? I assume you don't use it at the same time (so 4 different times a day?) I may try the Ponaris emollient or Nozaid. Thanks!

I have same issue for about 10 years, actually longer, but it worsened 10 years ago, I get the scabs every 2 days.The first I feel like I have difficulties to breathe, I start to hawk to get something out.By doing that it’s irritating my throat and I’m loosing voice (feeling like laryngitis).Also by coughing a lot and trying to get the scab out my chest hurts, and sometimes when I choke trying hard, I get horrible head ache-it feels like my brain will explode.When I get the scab out, I feel again like a normal human, I can breath.To get the scab out I start with gargling throat and let the saline run through nose(kinda help loosen the scab)Have seen about 6 ENT, showed the discussing scab pictures, 5 of them said, seeing it first time and don’t have idea what it is.#6 said he went to college for 8 years and never heard about it, but have had a couple patients who has same symptoms and pictures.Checked with little camera my nose and throat, said everything looks ok.Had CT on my nose, no big issues My insurance company denied my throat CT scan, I can’t afford to pay all out pocket 😢.Right now was trying to get the scab out, i hawked, and that piece of scab didn’t come to my mouth, but sticked somewhere in my throat (I’m coughing for 5 hours now, my chest hurts like hell, voice gone (sometimes I feel I don’t want live anymore and suffer, a specially when doctors can’t help and not even trying .😢
