Fibromyalgia Pain + Cymbalta
My doctor had me on Cymbalta 60mg once a day and Gabapentin 300 mg at night. I recently quit taking them both because of weight gain . Since quitting the Cymbalta, I hate the feeling! Brain fog, irritability, not sleeping. Anyone else have weight gain ? And does anyone else take more than 60 mg for fibromyalgia?? I was told that was limit for pain use.

I agree exercise and outdoor activity are key to feeling good. I was a hard core distance runner for years now my joints are paying me back for all the wear and tear. I am healthy otherwise. I fear Cymbalta so thanks for the good and positive info based on your experience.
I fear Cymbalta also. There is a Facebook page for people trying to get off this medication (Cymbalta Hurts Worse). Many users don't feel any benefit, or the benefits wear off after being on the drug a while. It can take years of slowly reducing this medication to avoid serious withdrawal side effects.
Hello, I just looked at that Facebook page, and I have a BIG concern with it. I was trying to post an encouraging, and positive comment to one of the members. To prevent an opposing point of view from appearing, the administrator turned off comments for the post. I thought maybe it was a coincidence, tried again on a different post, and the same thing happened. One-sided on line information is a "red flag" when deciding how much reliance to place on a particular site.
Here is a Fibromyalgia Facebook page that reports both points of view, where you can read many experiences:

Wow, that's very interesting about the Cymbalta FB page. I already follow the Fibromyalgia page you recommended, and two others. The Fibro page you recommended is Public, so I never post comments on it because those comments end up on my page, and I want to keep my health issues private. The two other Fibro FB pages are Private. All of the sites are interesting. Thank you.
i have been on 900mg of Gabapentin for over 5 years now with no weight gain.
You are so fortunate! I guess we are all made differently. These drugs seem to affect each person in an individual way. When they work they are wonderful. When they don’t work the side effects can be very difficult.
I have the weight gain with lyrica. It increases your appetite. Took cymbalta for about 5 years and did well. Then tried to get back on cymbalta a year ago and had a rare side effect. I had a gi bleed when I tried to increase to 20 to 30 mg. Trying savella again presently. As the lyrica gives me nerve pain when it wears off. Anyone else?
Hi ripley, I am new to these FB support pages. I'd like to look at the private Fibro pages you wrote about. I hv fibro ... and need to keep my stuff private. This is prob the most ive written in over 20 yrs online, but need help besides my dr. thx Fmrsdotr
I couldn't take Cymbalta. I was included in the multi class action law suit with them. I suffered shock like symptoms in brain, hallucinations at night, mostly auditory. My symptoms were documented 2 years before the lawsuit presented itself. That is a drug that you can't just stop suddenly. You must be weaned off of it. I take gabapentin and hydrocodone for my pain. I just started back the gabapentin after being off of it for a year because I'm hoping it takes away these internal vibrations. So far so good.
