notable people with epilepsy

Posted by lsittll @lsittll, Jun 2, 2020

I read in an earlier Epilepsy Foundation newsletter and elsewhere that several well known persons with epilepsy. Charles Dickens, George Gershwin,
Edgar Allen Poe, Elton John, Prince, Danny Glover, Neil Young, Socrates, Julius Caesar, Pope Pius IX, Julius Caesar, Socrates and Theodore Roosevelt have/have had it, Even Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison and Alfred Nobel had epilepsy. How about that?

Some of the personal side was necessary but I thought it was overdone.
I liked parts of it but writers can't please every reader.
I prefer the medical side and less of the personal side.
If you read it, let me know what you think.if you read it, let me know what you think of it
Take care,
Jake

Hi Leonard, Good Morning (@jakedduck1)

Thank you so much for this information. I have found the book on Amazon, do not worry. It is though very kind of you! Thank you so much.
Did you enjoy reading this book?
I finish this post today with a quote I have seen in a series this weekend
“The unkindness of people only hurts as long as we allow it” - A Suitable Boy

Have all a nice day and a good start to this week

Hello @santosha!

Happy Holidays!

There is a US Representative Tony Coelho who is very open about his epilepsy. He is the director of the American Association of Disabilities and is on the board of directors of the Epilepsy Foundation.

Enjoy the holiday spirit.

I've met Tony a couple of times and voted for him in spite he's a Democrat. He's a great guy. He works with the Epilepsy Foundation.

Hello @jakedduck1
I see he is from Los Angeles. I also see that you are not an independent republican either.

I read that an injury in a pickup truck at age 15 was the cause of his epilepsy. In his later years, a brain tumor was removed from his brain too. Surgery was successful.

Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2023!

Dear All,

I hope you all had an enlightened Christmas with your loved ones so that the year 2023 can be started with renewed energy and hope.

Wise words of Guimarães Rosa, a Brazilian well-respected writer. What is important is that we continue our life with faith, willpower and positive thoughts.

My best wishes to all of you! Happy Holidays and 2023!

Hi @lsittll

Thank you so much for sharing this information. I did not know about him, also because I live in a different country. Sharing a link with more information about Tony Coelho.

I've read that during research I am constantly doing, so I guess that puts in a pretty exclusive crowd.

In a book, I'm reading about a man with epilepsy he said that after recovering from a seizure he would be more mentally alert and creative. During his college days, he could accomplish a lot after seizure recovery. I'm just wondering if anyone else with epilepsy has had that experience?
