As moderator of the Autoimmune Diseases group, I noticed that several people were talking about RA, but those conversations were scattered throughout the community. I thought I would start this discussion to bring us all together in one place.

I have RA even though my blood does not show. Without repeating my self, my doc wants me to get on Embrel. I have request into Amgen for free. I will apply to humira and more if Embrel does not give me. I can not afford these drugs. I have swollen hands in morning and MRI says cartilage being damaged in hands.so Dr. Wants Embrel for me. Those who are on Embrel or humira did damage and swelling stop?

I have RA even though my blood does not show. Without repeating my self, my doc wants me to get on Embrel. I have request into Amgen for free. Also if I get on Embrel or Humana do I have to take forever or does RA go into remission?

Did the Embrel añd humira work? My hands are so swollen in am and after I take Prednisone, methotrexate (once a week), folic acid, Plaquenil, and diltiazem For high BP my swelling goes down but not 100%. I live on SS and some ira. When savings gone I will be done. I will apply for humira if emril does not give me free. Does the humira get rid of damage to your joints? And swelling in hands?

How long do you have to be on Embrel or humira for hands swelling to go away? Or do you have to stay on indefinitely.?

For those on humira and or Embrel did swelling and continued damage to cartilage in hands subside and how long did it take for swelling to go down and how long have you been on it for results? And do you have to take forever?

How long have you been on humira and enbrel? Did it get rid of the swelling in hands? Is it possible To go into remission? And not need enbrel or humira anymore.? My doc wants me off the 5 mg prednisone I am on. Does my hands are badly swollen in morning and then subsides after meds. My doc says I have to do enbrel or humira because as I said the cartilage in hands is damaging by the RA. Does enbrel get rid of swelling in hands. Doc says it stops damage to joints. Has it stopped yours? How long?

Anyone on Embrel or humira please comment how long it took to see swelling in hands go away and stop further joint damage. I can only take Embrel if the foundation gives to me for free. I live on social security and some Ira. I am 74 years old live alone and cannot work.

I have only been on Humira for a short time so it’s too early to tell.

My name is Lori. Diagnosed with RA, endometriosis, eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, and reactive lung disease. I also have anxiety mild depression and low thyroid. Currently on injectable methotrexate,
Hydroxychloroquine, levothyroxine sodium, etc. Been tired since Thurs. Don't know if it's depression, ra flare, migraine, or long haul covid. Living the dream!

I am in panic mode for RA. My hands swelling badly in am. As I said Dr. Wants me to try Embrel. I have insurance but Embrel still too much money. I am on SS and medicare part D does not cover enough of expense. What do people do? Amgen will not pay for drug for me. Do you think the Prednisone, paquenil, methotrexate will kick in and I will be in remission from RA? Or do I have to get on Embrel no matter what? Will it even work? Is there anyone in my predicament?
