Posted by tinalove @tinalove, Jan 31, 2016

I completed all treatments for breast cancer but now I am supposed to take hormone blocker, named anastrozole. im concerned about the side effects. Has anyone here taken it and did anyone have hair loss?

My oncologist recommended against the approach of taking a pill every other day because there is no evidence or studies to support that approach works.

@francine6829 my first oncologist was livid when I suggested taking that way, plus, he said a few other things. The second oncologist wanted me to take it , but with all my reactions to meds, I should introduce slowly, and I didn't even have to bring the idea up...he did! So, I appreciate his thinking of me and not just the cancer

Do you think it might be a sign of insanity when you start swearing at your Arimidex pill in the morning? 🙂

Sparklegram, not at all!!! For me, it would be abnormal not to swear at it! I’ve been given a reprieve for a few months by my doctor. It causes so much cognitive side effects for me that I can’t think straight. It’s wonderful not to be taking them for a little while. Had my mammogram last week and saw my oncologist, everything was clear!!! Nothing abnormal was detected! That means I’m one year out from treatment last summer! What’s your dosage? But you likely have already talked to your oncologist about going to a lower dosage...

And Francine, I have been given a 4 month reprieve! My cancer was one that’s very slow glowing I’ve been off meds since mid-May!!! I LOVE IT!! My next appt. with oncologist is in late September and we’ll review it then. I feel soooooo much better.

I can think clearly again. My husband and I haven’t been away for a vacation in nearly 5 years due to his 95 yr. old mother’s health. But his sister (she lives on the east coast, we are in Salt Lake City) is coming to stay with mommy dearest for those two weeks!!!! And we are going on a European river cruise!! A real vacation and no cancer meds!!! I think I’ve died and gone to heaven!!!

@francine6829 I'm hoping mine will also give me a 2 to 3-week holiday when our family goes on vacation...I would love to be a part of everything that goes on instead of pooping out and having to take breaks.

@lisman1408, I'm a year and a half into Arimidex treatment. My dosage is 1 MG a day only! Pretty low!

@lisman1408 I found switching to the letrozole (Femara), I haven't had the cognitive problems and brain fog...just other stuff that's more doable for me.
