Does anyone experience sudden tooth and gum pain

Could you be clenching your jaw?

I expect this is more than likely the explanation.

Only in the evening. Just went to the dentist everything is fine.

Hello @sueber

Have you checked with your dentist regarding this dental pain? Is there any time of the day when this pain is worse?

I would like to invite @loribmt to this discussion to see if she has any thoughts to add.

Hi @sueber Fellow mentor @hopeful33250 brought me into the conversation about your tooth/gum pain. My background is in dentistry so maybe together we can figure out what’s going on in your mouth.

I’m going to toss out a bunch of questions for you in hopes of narrowing this down. ☺️
When are you experience the dental pain is it localized to one area or an entire side of your mouth? Do you feel a sharp sensitivity to hot or cold? Or sweets?
Is this pain in your upper or lower jaw? Does it happen a little while after eating? Are you waking up with the pain? Can you notice any puffiness or swelling around the area that’s sensative?

Thank you for your kind offer. I woke up about 2 AM with pain in upper and lower teeth: front and right side. I took 2 ibuprofen and it stopped. It has not reoccurred so I believe I must have been clenching my jaw while sleeping. I am thankful that this has not happened again.

Oh, that’s a nasty way to be awakened. I’m glad it’s a one-off. It does sounds like you may have been clenching your jaw, or, sometimes when we sleep our jaw can get skewed so we’re clenching but not in the usual position. So then more pressure gets applied to teeth that don’t mesh.
If it does happen again there are mouth guards you can buy at a grocery/pharmacy which you can custom fit to your bite. They can help cushion your teeth if you’re prone to clenching. 🙂
