@gej53, Yes, I believe many on this forum have or had gut issues. I had terrible GERD and acid reflux and my local pulmonologist believes that's how I got bronchiectasis because I'm a stomach sleeper and when you sleep on your stomach the acid aspirates into your lungs at night. Hence, I sleep on a wedge now. I try not to eat at least three hours before I go to sleep (which is hard for me) and don't ever turn over onto my stomach until 5 or 6 am.....I love sleeping on my stomach so that part has been hard. Nan
I have the same exact issue GERD induced Bronchiectasis. It is gotten more out of hand since I had COVID last September. Everything burns and irritates my esophagus. I had an EGD last winter which didn't look too bad. I have a GI appointment next week and might need surgery. My weakness is Coke Zero, as I can no longer drink coffee or tea.

I had to give up carbonated drinks, black tea, coffee and even the occasional glass of wine. It makes life easier to accept it and not think too much about the impact of Mac and GERD or it gets a bit overwhelming.
I recently have been using a wedge and it makes a difference. My night coughing has been reduced quite a bit. There was a problem with me sliding down to the bottom of the wedge however. I had to constantly hoist myself up. But, one of our group posted a terrific idea that really works, which is to put another pillow on top of the wedge vertically. Another words, the pillow is not horizontal the way you normally sleep on it. Instead, it is vertical and placed right on top of the wedge. This keeps me in the right position for most the night. I might slide down a tiny bit but it has not been a problem.
If there is a Trader Joe's near you, they have a French Roast Low Acid coffee that is quite good. It is not decaf though. I drink coffee very sparingly. When I do, it feels like a real special treat. I found a pretty good herbal coffee non-caffeine coffee substitute that might be worth checking out... Teeccino. You can buy a sampler packet from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081S3M855?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details I find it quite yummy.

Thanks! I actually gave them up because they started to make me feel sick to my stomach a couple of years ago.
Giving up a good cup of coffee in the morning was harder than giving up alcohol, carbonated drinks, etc but I don’t think about it most days now and I feel better for it (I’m not into suffering either).

I have GERD as well and I switched to Low Acid Decaf/Regular Coffee and like it better than regular now.

I drink decaf but have not heard of low acid. Where do you buy it?
I order on Amazon: VitaCup Organic/Low Acid Decaf and Alex's Organic/Low Acid Regular.
