YES! Drives me crazy!
Of all the multiple adjustments to this life of 'battling', this the one thing that I find so disheartening.
Being compliant to all the medications and therapies, and then Thrush......aaaaagh!
The best thing for me is to take my puffers, then brush teeth and then eat my breakfast!
AND, I routinely use "Magic Mouthwash" at night before sleep. This is a perscription. If I still get "break through", I increase to 3 or 4 times daily.
This mouthwash is usually given to cancer patients who are experiencing thrush during their cancer treatments.
It's the only thing that has worked for me.
Keep Pressing On!
Thank you. First bout in 6 yrs
I’ve not had thrush yet, however, when I was prescribed Breo Ellipta, my pulmonologist advised me to rinse my mouth after using so I wouldn’t get it. I always rinse & gargle with water & have not gotten it yet. Hope this helps!
yes I have developed Thrush and my dr orderedNystatin oral mouth rinse which has cleared the problem.Be sure you follow the instructions as ordered by the dr..
Yes, that is correct! My husband has gotten thrush from his inhaler use. I remind him to rinse afterwards, and then he’s good. After I use my BREO I even brush afterwards!
I have been on Advair probably 8 or more years now, and have never developed Thrush. I was told to gargle & rinse right after I take the med.
Hi, for the first time in 10 years I am dealing with this now. I had been on symbicort and spiriva until my insurance decided it didn’t want to cover the spiriva. Dr has had me trying different inhalers to replace the sprivia. Anyway, forgive my rattling… my question is how long does it take for the thrush to go away?
Thanks
Ina
Hello Ina - How are you treating the thrush?
Sue
Lost my response so writing again. Dr has me swishing and swallowing 5mg nystatin 4 times a day and then gargling with 1/2 strength listerine 4 times a day. It seemed like it was going away and then next morning there it was again. Very frustrating!
I use daily BREO and an as needed albuterol inhaler for exercise induced asthma. I am immunosuppressed due to liver and kidney transplant 14 years ago. I have had thrush after a hiking vacation in higher elevation and mountains in western US, and felt throat pain during a long flight home. I thought it was dry air irritation, but soon went to ER with intense pain. Was prescribed Nystatin for 10 days and it didn't return.
I hope you get relief.
