Are there exercises that strengthen the lower esophageal sphincter?
I wonder if there are certain exercises that might strengthen the lower esophageal sphincter?

Thanks for sharing your success. I am ending two months on AWD and while I see progress I know there is a long road still. Hearing that your symptoms stopped after eight months in the healing phase gives me hope.
Please don’t give up!!! This does work. I’m a completely different person now. Yes only trigger foods now in moderation but still no surgery!!! Hang in there. I’m here if you have any questions 🌹
Thank you. I've been on the AWD maintenance program for 2 years now. My follow up endoscopy showed no sign of my Barrett's, but I've just developed a cough. I'll be following the diet more strictly, now that I'm back from vacation.
If I stray away from my diet, my cough will return if even briefly. Are you left side sleeping, and continuing to use a wedge pillow? Even with healing I still follow these recommendations.
Very interesting! My husband and I get reflux from time to time. I will look into the diet! Thanks!!
Thank you for sharing! I have shortness of breath but because my lungs sound clear many dismiss the issue.
@baguette have you had any luck with the mouthguard exercises?
What is AWD?
Acid Watcher Diet. There are two ENTs that I know of who have written books on using a low acid diet to manage GERD without drugs. One is Dr. Jonathan Aviv; there is a FB page that offers a ton of recipes based on his book.

Then there is Dr. Jamie Koufman, who has a slightly different take on what you can eat on a low acid diet. She has a website https://jamiekoufman.com.
Hard to tell because I did a few things at the same time. I think it has done something. Outside of my rebound reflux last year, which was as bad as my original reflux, if I have an episode now due to non-compliance with diet or bending down it is easily managed by popping an antacid in my mouth or taking a teaspoon of Gaviscon Advance or some water with baking soda. BUT, I am doing the low acid, low fat diet more faithfully, AND I am using filtered water with pH balancer drops. My throat also isn't sore all the time as it used to be, and I can more easily talk/sing without coughing. I do have a large hiatal hernia so I am quite pleased and amazed at the progress without a PPI. Because of the HH, I cannot dismiss the effects of the exercise with the mouthguard, even though it isn't exactly like the Iqoro. The mouthguard cost about $10 so even if it didn't work I wouldn't have been out much money, just effort. I can't say I would be in the same place without the diet change though.
