I am 1 year out and it getting better but I had learn where all the bathrooms were and had a lot of real close situation and only one accident. I still have bladder and bowel loss of control and it was not that way before radiation.

Hi @jerry987, I moved your question to the Colorectal Cancer support group where you can more easily connect with other members who have had radiation for rectal cancer like @gdimond @karir @duckduck2020 @kerryos @martin77 and others.

Have you talked with a symptom management nurse about the diarrhea? Are you staying hydrated?

I am caregiver for my. Wife Linda she just got a gynecologist after months. She strives for three quarts of water plus other liquids daily

Radiation is wonderful for cancer but so damaging to healthy skin. My treatment was finished in early December and I left to deal with fecal incontinence. I’m learning to cope with it every day. I am never without a thick sanitary pad. I take Imodium when I need a break and put benefiber in my morning coffee. I use Aquaphor to calm the fragile skin. It’s no picnic but as long as the cancer stays away, I can manage it.

You are right on about the cancer something bring ten times change to our life and you seem to be coping well there must be something available that would help situation
