Has anyone gotten back to normal after one complication after another?
I’m 78 yr old female in good health. Able to swim 2 K and walk 1 mile 3 X week.
I tested positive for COVID on Feb. 10, 2023. I just had a cough - no other symptoms. Took a course of Paxlovid. After about a week, tested negative and was able to go back to short spurts of exercise - swimming and walking. After another week, noticed severe exercise intolerance. I’d get short of breath and my pulse would slow to 48 and become irregular. Saw cardiologist and EKG was essentially normal. Wore a 24 hr. Holter monitor which showed some irregularities but doc did not feel they were significant. In the meantime, chest congestion was getting worse so my internist put me on a course of prednisone. Then my blood pressure shot up to 210/110 and I landed in the ER. I was trending toward hypertension so I was put on Amlodipine. I’ve gotten my BP under control and have days when the shortness of breath is not too bad. (I use an Albuterol inhaler which helps). Then today (3/25) I woke up really lightheaded and had what I think was an anxiety attack. I was afraid I was going to die. I’m feeling better as the day goes on but still lightheaded. It’s just one thing after another. I wonder if I’m ever going to get back to normal.
I’m retired and don’t have to worry about work but my heart goes out to the younger ones who are experiencing similar post COVID symptoms and are unable to get back to work or a semblance of a normal life. I’m grateful to be able participate in this forum and read about other’s experiences and know that I’m not alone in all this. Thank you.

That’s so wonderful! Now that’s the kind of news I’m happy to hear. I’m in my 4 month of post covid and just had to have a pacemaker implanted for heart block. I hope everyday that I’ll get back to some semblance of normalcy. I will pray that your turnaround is permanent. Good luck!
Wonderful news !!
That’s great news! How long did you have symptoms? I have heard folks can spontaneously get better, but is there anything you did that you think was particularly helpful?
I hope I get back to normal. Cough is gone but clear mucous in sinuses still here
Having MRI of brain upcoming but don't want dye. It adds to Racey immune system and stays in body for years. It can't be good. My doc wants because she says shows more detail MRI. I think I am going to refuse it. I will just have MRI without dye on 3T Tesla machine.
For me, going on a couple years now so nope.
Just passed my 1-year anniversary of Covid (Long Covid) and conditions - symptoms only get worse as time passes. I would love a heart, brain and lung scan (with dye or nuclear medicine) as I want to know right now where my vital organs stand. I'm guessing my age (75) prevents such investigative research as I have bought and paid for premium insurance for over 50 years and now that I need it - I only get aspirins. My guess is doctors think I'm stupid and will go along with the placebo treatment little do they know with so few future years - that's not an option for us still functioning senior citizens. So I wouldn't fight the dye or radio-active medicine if it gets you a chance for the truth, because that is something I haven't seen in my care over the last 12 months.
I would get the dye. I did mine without contrast and I really regret it as it actually shows very little without it. If the whole point is to get help you want them to have as much information as they can get, definitely worth it. Much better to have to detox from that then not get the care you need. Hope my mistake can help you, good luck, hope you get better
Try 3 CBD gummies for sleep at night and drink tart cherry juice NOT from concentrate before bedtime…works pretty good for me
Nope, haven not gotten "back to normal" 1.5 years after total hip replacement. I suspect I never will be my former "normal" again. But I am learning, working hard, on acceptance and trying to focus only on what I am able to do, not what is no longer a part of my life. Also trying to practice non-resistance, to find peace. I have learned a lot in this journey and I suspect you have as well ...
Medical marijuana from 1 gram extract mixed with 30 ml avocado oil gets me a night's sleep - finding the right strain is trial and error. I never use it during day - too sleepy if I do.
