I am 8 weeks into anterior THR. Was doing quite well considering surgeon said it was a difficult surgery due to more arthritis than it showed. However horrible sharon pains now in my femur. Does anyone else have this?
Welcome to Connect, @laura1956. You mention "sharon pains" in the femur. Was that a typo? Did you mean "sharp" pains?
Yes darn spell check. Sharp pains down my femur.
I’m sorry to hear your in pain. I have also been suffering from severe pain after my hip surgery 3 years ago. I was told that I have nerve damage from the surgery as well as bursitis. I hope you find relief soon.
Torn labrum?
I an quite discouraged. After years of battling the arthritic pain, it's gone, and now I have a new pain. I try not to take painkillers but really need to. Have you had any relief and are you told it will get better. Good luck at your journey.
Oh dear, what a mess. It is so frustrating when I hear of success then it changes to serious life changing health issues. My xrays showed all hardware is good but these shooting pains down my femur almost make me cry. No escaping the pain, again! Good luck.

1 Reaction8 weeks ago. Was doing quite well; then bang...it all changed after one very grueling physio. I hope she never made me hurt anything; but she says no. But of course she would
Hello everyone,
The time has come to open a new group dedicated to joint replacements. Many of you have already participated in discussions centered around joint replacements, such as replacement of knees, hips, shoulders, wrists and elbows as well as preparing for surgery and recovery. You may notice those discussions have now been moved to the new group.
I invite you to +Follow the new Joint Replacements group here, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/joint-replacements/. Feel free to browse the topics or start a new one.

1 ReactionI found this site looking for anyone that is dealing with my issue. I have had both hips replaced. Left one is over 5 years old. Right one is 16 months post surgery. They both seem to be great. I can live life normally. I even played some low intensity basketball this morning.
I have very intense pain in the middle of each thigh after standing in a relaxed position. I am right handed. So, after my left hip replacement my relaxed stance had the majority of weight on my right leg. I was pain free for those 4 years. After the right replacement I began getting intense sharp pain mid thigh after standing in a relaxed (weight on my right leg) position. So, I consciously change my relaxed stance so my left leg would carry the majority of weight. After a short period I have the same intense sharp pain in whichever leg carries the majority of weight as I stand relaxes. The pain only lasts a few seconds but intense enough to make me grit my teeth or groan in pain. I can do OK when I evenly distribute my weight. However, you may be surprised how often we stand unevenly. Household chores like cooking or washing dishes usually include me adding a few choice words from the intense sharp pain.
Anyone experience anything like this? I have tried to exercise and stretch hoping to work through it. Nothing seems to help. My first thought was scare tissue being torn in the thigh muscle but I haven't been able to eliminate it.
Thanks for your thoughts.
