long hauler of 2+ years struggling with decision to get vaccinated

Posted by aldersage @aldersage, Apr 17, 2023

I got Covid before the vaccines were available and started having symptoms that all my Drs thought were menopausal. It became clear about 6 months ago as things progressed that it is long Covid and I can feel it in my brain and spine, all over my body. I have tried so many therapies, natural meds, meditation, ect.. outside of my regular Drs because they have no advice for me. I have not been able to afford the oxygen therapy. I have made appointments over the years to finally just get the vaccine but something always comes up, they had run out of it or they only had the kids version or I get sick, ect. I have another appointment tomorrow and I have so much anxiety about it, fear that my symptoms will get worse. Everyone I know is boosted, my family who are all boosted think I should steer clear since I have had Lyme and Epstein Barr in the past. I am a single mom and need to get better. Please I would love to hear from anyone who maybe has any similar advice. Thank you.

wanted to add that I finally got a prescription for LDN to try which Ill receive next week and also ordered
-sera/nanno supplement
-pinebark extract
Ill post here if they seem to help and would love any other suggestions for those who have neurological symptoms. Turmeric was helping with the hot flashes and sweating but no more. Thank you so much and take care everyone.

I’m struggling with the same angst since I had covid last November.. I also have ongoing symptoms and had some tests done to rule out other causes but nothing showed up. It’s truly frustrating to seek medical attention and no one is connecting the dots but that’s another discussion which sadly comes up all too often. I have decided to take the vaccine because I don’t think covid is over at least not for seniors or people with illnesses, I have heard that healthy people don’t need a booster for now, the numbers are always lower in the summer but there’s another variant making the scene in Europe and it’s a matter of time that it will be here..no info on the new variant so we shall no doubt find out sooner enough.

Yikes. Have you asked your physician who knows what you DO have for sure, re: Epstein B., other immune. disease, etc? My docs all told me to get the vax asap. (I got Covid in March ‘20, before vax existed. Everyone I know personally (plus anecdotally) who got Covid after being vaxed had an easier and better time being sick then I did. ( BUT— If you got it after getting a vax, Im not AT ALL trying to belittle your experience. just sharing mine. )
It’s so hard to know. But I’d be worried about getting it worse my 2nd time around— my luck has been doing so lovely…..

What are you waiting for? Unless there is a medical reason why you shouldn’t be vaccinated, I don’t get it.
Life is not a dry run, we’re here for a short period of time.
The vaccine works - it’s been proven.
if you don’t care about yourself, at least care about others. To me, those who choose to not vaccinate are selfish to others.

I think you should load your body with alkaline foods no meat and alkaline beverages, drink tons of water and take hot baths, and steam rooms if possible, dry brush your skin get lots of sleep, and see how you feel in a week. I sincerely hope you feel better. I am not a doctor nor do I play one on TV. This is all natural and has worked for me for other ailments. Are you getting enough D?

I should have shared more info, it hadn't been that easy for me because I have already had vaccine reactions and was recovering from a Dtap booster I had to get from an injury when Covid started. When I felt healthy enough to get it my very healthy, vibrant Father who had just had a full heart stress test that he passed with flying colors had a massive stroke shortly after his booster, his equally healthy brother went in for heart surgery a week after his and is still struggling. My grandmother passed away claiming of a pain in her back and legs she never had before it. I know people with Lyme who had flareups after that retriggered the Lyme after getting it... My sister has friends who had bad reactions and believe they are sick because of it and know many who were just sick all the time after they got it. So, while I have been studying all of the proven data, what has been in my personal field had not reflected the reported safety and I was scared to get sicker than I already was as I have to work and raise my daughter. I work at home, alone and have been very safe to protect my family and community and continue to wear a mask to this day. It has been a very hard, alienating and stressful decision for me and one I have not taken lightly. I had scheduled and gone to get it multiple times, once with my daughter to get hers but they were out of the Adult dosage at the Children's hospital. Then yesterday, I had a 11 am apt at Walgreens and they called me at 10 and was told they are no longer giving them so not sure what is coming down the pipeline. I wish you well and glad it worked for you.

Yes yes yes! Get the shot! I caught Covid January 2021 and it was beyond my greatest fears. I was home finally after a relapse late May 202 I have taken every single version of it plus Shingrx,
Flu and I'm an asthmatic long hauler who has not had even a head cold. I'm still sensitive about my age but my 66 yr old neighbor is barely able to get down the hall to the mailbox and didn't want to take a chance. Really? As another related, take it its there for our health. This isn't an internet special. I'm complaining about being a long hauler but I'm alive and functioning.
