Collagen for osteoporosis?
My friend's medical doctor has her take collagen for her bones. I decided to try it and wondered if anyone knows more than I do about this.

Thank you for your reply. Would you mind telling me which brand of collagen you use. Do you have osteoporosis? I am wondering if collagen peptides help with it.
oh dear..how time flies~...I've been doing collagen for about 3 years now...not going to stop now....
I haven't gone for my DEXA this year yet....I will report findings when I do get that test.
Thank you.
I have 2 stress fractures that are slow healing since January 2023 and another that was in June 2022 that took until December to heal. I am also on Evenity now. It is so frustrating. I also have used the bone stimulator. What kind of fracture? I take calcium and vitamin D and also I am on HRT. How did it break? I am so sorry for you. I understand your frustration.
I have osteopenia, but I've not had a recent scan so can't speak to the effect of collagen on bone strength. I do take an aromatase inhibitor which caused severe joint pain centered mostly in my knees. It eventually became crippling to the point I could barely drag myself up and down stairs, in or out of a chair or even on or off the toilet. That's when I started using collagen supplements. I first tried the powder which helped, but I found it inconvenient to find something to mix it into. (Not a coffee drinker). I then went with the pink gummies.
They both helped tremendously. Now that I knew collagen worked for me, I did the research and found capsules with the five major types of collagen. The dosage is 2/day and they aren't overly large. As posters here have been asking for brands I use Natures Nutrition Multi Collagen. I've been on them about 18 months and my knees are almost 100 per cent pain free. I do have mild osteoarthritis in them, so I get the occasional stiffness or twinge, but the contrast has been amazing. I found these capsules on Amzon and have provided the link.

The 1 st break was Sept. 29 2022 . I tripped over my dog and thought I stubbed my toes. I fractured my 4 th toe . The phalanx and the neck of my 4 th metatarsal. Dr. Had me on no weight bearing . Knee scooter and saw him in like the end Nov Told me I could walk on it . Dec 14 th 2022 . I was going to get the mail . And walked on the soft ground. Rolled my ankle and fractured my 5 th metatarsal. Apparently . That one healed . The 4 th never did . The bone stimulator they gave me is the new one . Apparently my podiatrist did not include my metatarsal fracture or the service rep didn’t for the bone stimulator . I am beyond frustrated . I’m just hoping and praying this thing works
There is a type of collagen that two doctors have recommended and this type has been studied and helps bones. The type of collagen is fortibone. Designs for health website sells one with that type of collagen. A functional doc told me about it. I also take one that has just that one type of collagen. I get that from Osteonaturals.
That’s Dr Keith Mc Cormicks site. He is the doctor that had severe osteoporosis and now his mission is to help others. He used tymlos and supplements from what I remember.
Thank you for the information. Has your bone density improved since you have been using these?
It does seem like you are doing all the right things. I hope that the Evenity and bone stimulator help you to heal. I do believe the blood supply to the 5th is limited. I know that it is so frustrating not to be able to just walk! Don't give up! Stay positive.
