I have had two hip replacements. The first one done, four years ago is fine. The last (left) one, replaced 15 months ago, seems to be successful, in that there is no pain in the hip, but the thigh stays sore all the time, from my groin down to my knee, and walking increases the pain. I can only lift my foot four or five inches off the floor when sitting, after which the thigh aches and it seems as if there is a block in place to prevent further elevation. I have had an MRI on my back and hip x-rays, and am told that, although there is evidence of disc degeneration, this is apparently not a cause of the problem. Diclofenac or Absorbine do not help. Is this unique?
Yes, I am currently living with intense pain after my 2016 postirier Left Hip replacment.
I had my right hip replaced anterior approach in 2017. Funny thing is I only had minor stabbing thigh pain in left thigh (femor area above knee) before right hip replaced, and I did pretty good recovering, and then about 6 months ago whenever I transfer my body weight on my left side (leaning on a counter), and upon unloading my body weight, or shifting weight I get intense pain as described. I thought perhaps the stem of the Prostetic was not growing onto the shaft, but X-rays show prosthetic in place, with no visible loosening. I’m a Serivce Connected Disabled Veteran, and I’m being seen by Orthopidics in about two weeks. What’s going on here? We can’t be the only ones having this issue.
@suemer and @popolopo and @lioness and @scottjeffe I hope I havent missed anyone that recently answered about all of this,, I still havent looked at the netflix,, not sure how to do that,, we dont have netflix.. but will look into the colbalt aspect.. and I agree that some of the meds we take will have side effects,, I was on Lisinoprol - HCTZ.. and the HCTZ ( hydroclozide)(sp).. caused pancreatitis in me.. but this pain we are all dealing with is not in our heads,, its real.. and the part that angers me the most is the drs attitude to it.. which is --there is nothing wrong.... The bone scan I had done did show "loosening of fixture".. and the ortho dr said that is normal ... WHHHHHAAATTTT???? I have no way of finding out if a bone scan shows loosening after a hip replacement.. I cant get an appt with other drs.. they dont want to take on someone elses mistake.. sooo If anyone knows about Radiology,, is is normal for a bone scan to show loosening and its not loose,,

Frister I was a o.r. Nurse helped Dr on many hip replacements and no it is not normal the ball is the only thing that moves the stem fits into the femur bone so how can it move ?
Yes right after Thr terrible groin pain for over a year now it moved to thigh pain and knee pain
Now 2 years post surgery and still very painful when I put pressure on my hip or leg. I did due diligence with PT 4 times.

@lioness thank you for your reply,, I dont have the answer to any of this,, but when I stand up from a sitting position, I am stuck in a bent position,, till it ( for lack of a better term,, being as I dont know what its doing).. snaps back or pops back into place.. and its super painful, the pain is in the groin area and the upper thigh,, the pain I have is severe when I bend over,, there is also a lump down the front of my thigh ever since the surgery.. So what is the radiologist meaning when he says the fixture is "loosening". Thanks again..
@frister Wow your kidding its just a cheaper Lyrica what is the FDA doing to us who need it ,are they trying to kill us ?
