Good for you. I'm sure you have plenty of thoughts running through your head as you prepare for your appointment. I hope you'll feel welcome to check in here on Connect if you just need someone to talk to, someone who has been there. We're here even through the holidays.

I'd also like to introduce you to Sheryl M. Ness @smness. Sheryl is a patient educator at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. She and her team in the Cancer Education Center help inform and educate patients, families and caregivers about services and resources to help them through the cancer journey. The Center is also a beautiful, calming place to relax between appointments. http://www.mayoclinic.org/patient-visitor-guide/education-centers/cancer-education/minnesota

Stay in touch.

@lucci50 I am so glad that you have your appointment scheduled. Mayo has much expertise in diagnosing and treating carcinoid. We can also help you in understanding your treatment plan once you have it outlined. Stop into the Cancer Education Center on the main (street) level of the Gonda building and our educators will assist with your needs. I hope to meet you while you are here!

They have me scheduled to see Dr. Larusso... The concern I have is that he gets a low rating with healthgrade<br />

I can imagine reading a low score on patient satisfaction would make you nervous. But I notice that only 1 person has rated Dr. LaRusso. I don't think that is enough information to make a judgement.

Perhaps it would help to see him and hear him speak. In this video Forbes interviewed Dr. LaRusso because of his leadership at the Mayo Clinic Center for Innovation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owbuhyDQb6o

something you need to consider...it's cancer...and typically it's notorious...people die...all it takes is one person who is overcome with grief to put a review. I have a world renowned melanoma specialist oncologist ( not at Mayo) he is fantastic and the majority of people really like him, but there are some who would him a poor rating...people die...thats the nature of the cancer beast.

Let us not forget that more and more people survive cancer than ever before. And you are one of those stories @lynnkay1956

@lucci50 It's normal to be nervous. Don't hesitate to share your concerns here as the date approaches. No question is a dumb question. I hope you are also able to welcome the festivities at this time of year. Will you be celebrating with family?
