Symptoms of Neuropathy, Fatigue, Tinnitus, M-Spike

Posted by billwb @billwb, May 3, 2023

I am 61 years old and have been a healthy and active person all my life. Within short period of time I came down with symptoms of fatigue, brain fog, peripheral neuropathy, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), and what is called M-Spike a little over a year ago. The neuropathy in my feet is what bothers me the most and cannot find any real help. Taking Gabapentin, but really does not help too much. I am convinced it had something to do with the Covid vaccine and was wondering if anyone has experienced the same type of symptoms and have diagnosis being related to Covid vaccines?

Check out Neuro V Long-haulers on facebook. You have the same symptoms as many in that group. Everyone offers support, and shares what treatments are working and not working for them. I also have neuropathy like symptoms (from neck down) and feel that my immune system may be in overdrive due to 2 boosters and having covid within a 5 month period. Best wishes to you!

The only thing that has worked for me is magnesium glycinate before bed. For the most part it has enabled me to sleep well. Also have your B-12 checked as that can cause neuropathy. Mine was low. I now take B-Complex as well.

Appreciate the feedback. Research did show B12 can be a cause of neuropathy, fortunately for me it is good, but will look into magnesium glycinate.

There is so much conflicting info out there, it's really hard to know what to believe. My Neurologist said B6 can cause or exacerbate neuropathy & to stop taking it, but to continue B12, which supposedly helps PN.

What dosage of Gabapentin do you take? I'm at 2100mg per day & still have pain in my feet & lower calves, especially at night. I forgot to take my PM dose a few days ago & the pain was excruciating, so I think it helps to some degree. I also developed tinnitus a few months ago, due to a slight hearing loss in my left ear. Dealing with the constant hissing is fun too, isn't it? As to your original question, I've never had Covid or the shot. Eric Clapton had the vax & it caused him so many problems, he couldn't play guitar for months. That's what convinced me to avoid the vax.

I have had neuropathy since 2017 ( that I noticed)…I think it likely is in the works for some time before it finally becomes noticeable. I have some numbness in feet and legs…as well as hands. I also have muscle fatigue in legs mostly.
Like you, there’s a lot of fatigue to fight thru. Probably my worst thing is my balance has gotten much worse. I’m now 60 yr old male. I read a small study about someone who had foot pain and gait problems from neuropathy. They used a foot vibration device and tracked to see if there was improvement. The results showed lessening pain and improved gait. I bought one on Amazon and have used it. I can’t say that I notice much difference however I don’t have much pain in my feet. It’d probably be worth a try at least . You sit down and put your feet on it and it vibrates…it’s adjustable. The last bit of advice is keep moving and develop an exercise regiment if you can.
Best wishes.

I researched Tinnitus online and its not caused by hearing loss like most doctors will tell you. Its a short circuit in the brain. Again the nervous system is responsible for the confusion in transmission of network messages. I had my hearing tested and its good 80% at my age of 72.
Still no treatment that works for me either.

I take the major B vitamins separately over a B- complex multiple as the levels are much closer to recommended B vitamin levels. Do some research on recommended levels for your condition and I think you’ll find they’re much higher than a B-complex - especially B-12.
Good lucky. I

Um, that would be “good luck”.

Yes, you are correct. Once they determined in December that I was deficient in B-12, I took it separately as well. My numbers have gone up significantly. I still take it a few times a week since I have symptoms (which can take months to resolve). I am having bloodwork later this month and will get a game plan with my neurologist and GP as to what I need to take and how often.
