Y90 Radiation (Radioembolization) for breast cancer mets to liver

Posted by mglinkhart @mglinkhart, Apr 20, 2023

Is there anyone out there that has had the Y90 radiation treatment to treat the tumors in your liver. If so, could I get your thoughts on it this is where my Oncologist is headed with my shrinking liver Mets. I have a phone appointment on the 26th so I would like to get ahead of the game and know what to ask thank you all for your help. Much appreciated. Maria

I’m still researching it. I have not decided yet if I will or won’t do it.

My Dr wants me to have the Y90 because I have several tumors in both lobes of my liver. They will do the right side first and then the left side. Mine are from metastatic breast cancer. Any one have any info on what to expect? I already have nausea and fatigue from my oral chemo meds so I’m concerned it will get worse. Do you actually feel better after it’s done?

I am sorry you are struggling with your chemo regimen. Sometimes it feels like you just can’t catch a break from the treatments.
You said your appointment was on the 26th, but you haven’t decided yet.
The kinds of questions I might ask are; Are the liver Mets the only Mets they found? What are the expectations from this treatment? Time? Quality of life? Treatment free period?
Please come back and tell me how it is going for you.
