Has anyone had a Nissen fundoplication procedure done to stop gerd? Is it worth it? Was told that if that procedure was done that I wouldn't be able to throw up but is that the only side effect? Really want to get off protonix.

I had the Nissen in 2015.. post operative gastropanesis was the result.. I have written several times about it.. Every meal is a challenge.. the local surgeon did it I had to go to Mayo MN to find what was wrong.. lost 50 pounds (was not overweight) have gained some back.. my first and only Nissen cannot be reversed . Damaged stomach nerves cannot regenerate..

First try diet, exercise and natural stuff. Protonix and Pepcid never worked for me and w side effects. With surgery, you will also have a lot of bloating and you might have to do the surgery again. Get off Protonix, and try losing a lot of weight. Google and do your research about Gerd and HH and exercises for HH, and see if you get better wo surgery.
