Is 2 months average to have your kidney removed from RCC?

Posted by olive60oil @olive60oil, Mar 24, 2023

I have hemorrhagic renal cell carcinoma that is 8 centimeters. I saw an urologist yesterday for surgery. She told me that she is scheduling 2 months out because they are backed up. Am I the only one who thinks this is too long to wait. I have pain in my lower back that shoots down to my leg from it rubbing on my spine. I also have terrible exhaustion. My aunt and I think that it should only take one, maybe two weeks. How long have some of you folks had to wait. It could spread and I am suffering. I cannot imagine doing this for 2 months waiting.

Hi! I had kidney removed in October after biopsy confirmed I had kidney cancer. It has now spread to lungs and I have 2nd IV today. I also am taking a target drug. How are you feeling?

I feel ok, tired. But that seems to be one of the side effects. I've just finished the second round of Opdivo. The first round had no effect. But you have to realize not everyone is the same. Have a CT scan scheduled for Tuesday to see if there is any change. How are you doing
And thanks for reaching out.

Hi, I was diagnosed first week of September and had kidney out last week of October:( Waiting was horrible. I did get a second opinion and realized this is bigger than me so I am going to an oncologist specializing in kidney cancer. My symptoms was a tremendous amount of blood in my urine.
I have stage 4 unclear RCC. It’s very hard for me…thank you for reaching out! I pray you’re feeling better!

I'm almost 8 months in I've had mild syptoms from the immunotherapy. But I've got a great support group of family and friends. But now it's getting hard mentally. So talking with people who are dealing with this helps. Thanks

I too am blessed having a great support team but I find it helpful to talk with people who have same diagnosis. Are you taking a target drug too? The drugs are playing a huge mind game and I’m just not myself…I tend to stay focused on day by day since I believe I’ll be taking these drugs for awhile:(

I did 4 infusions of Opdivo/Yervoy, after the scan the spots on my lungs had tripled in size. The next round was 3 infusions of a double dose of Opdivo. My next scan is on Tuesday. It's tough waiting, because I'm a results type person and you can't feel or see if the fusions are working. So I try had have a positive attitude, but inside just freaking out. I really appreciate the support. Yep, just try and live the best life you can each day.

I understand your positive attitude (even while you are
freaking out) and I'm wishing you the best results possible, @rtw1268.

How are you feeling? Will you post again and let me know how you are doing?

The drugs make you feel tired. So you don't feel like doing anything. But i make myself get up and do some yard work and house work.
Thanks for asking.

Yes. I had a CT scan suggesting RCC then the biopsy confirmed it the end of September and I had my right kidney removed on October 22 last year!
