Anyone out there who has multifocal choroiditis?

Posted by Rita Torres @ritatorres, Sep 29, 2015

if there is anyone out there who has multifocal choroiditis, please contact me with your story. a loved one of mine has this and during treatment was blinded in one eye. because of atrophy and chronic constant pain, that blinded eye must be removed. evisceration or enucleation are the choices. enucleation is recommended. my question is if anyone else out there has had to face this and if so, what are best methods to manage pain during recovery before being fitted for the prosthetic. thank you so much.

Hi @Mohitsharma21
Is steroid treatment not helping this time? Are you losing eye sight in both eyes?

Colleen_young... I have some questions if you can answer.

1 if this disease is curable permanently. If yes than what is percentage of patient fully cured.
2. What is the best treatment for this disease and in which country I could get best treatment.

Thanks for your support!!!!!

Hi @Mohitsharma21
Unfortunately, I cannot answer your questions as thoroughly as I wish I could. Choroidal disorders are complex and varied as you can see from this article http://patient.info/doctor/choroidal-disorders and even within multifocal choroiditis there are sub groups. There is not a lot of information online about this.

You may wish to request an appointment at the Mayo Clinic. Here's the info http://www.mayoclinic.org/appointments
You can also read more about the Ophthalmology Department on this page, including services, specialities and patient stories http://www.mayoclinic.org/departments-centers/ophthalmology/overview/specialty-groups

Where are you being treated now?
