Scheduled for bone biopsy what was your experience?

Hello,

Finally I’m achy for biopsy after 1.5 years of debilitating symptoms. I’m doing extremely poorly. Please let me know if what was your experience and things that worked for you after the procedure.

Blessings of healing 🙏🏻🤍

I had one done, was terrified, local anesthesia just some pressure, not that I want it done again but I would not be so frightened if I needed it.

I had a BMP done a couple of weeks ago. I too was a little stressed, but it went very well. I had local anesthesia and light sedation and have no memory at all of what happened after they injected the sedation. I think you will do well.

I put off having one for 6 months because everyone said how painful it was. All these people have never had a BMB, but they all said the same thing so it caused a lot of worry. Well, I got put to sleep and everything was great! If I needed another, I wouldn’t even think about it.

I don't know if I had a biopsy or aspiration but it was not that bad. This was in 1960 in a children's hospital so maybe the doctor took extra care or he was just very skilled. No sedation or anesthesia. I believe I even walked down the hall to the treatment room and walked back to the ward afterwards. I hope any I may have to have now go as well as that one did. My standard is now set very high. Plus it was negative for leukemia.

I have have BMB 6 times and only one was unpleasant. I used sedation for the others .unfortunately, it a tool that must be used as barbaric as it is. I am due for another in a few months so I worry about it then.
Good luck and take a deep breath.

I had my first bmb about 6 weeks ago. I was quite nervous about the pain as I read the management used is typically only lidocaine. However, I was given fentanyl as well. I was awake, but didn’t feel hardly anything. It took maybe 30 minutes. They went in right at the bone where your butt-crack starts. I will say, after having both a bmb & laparoscopic surgery to biopsy some lymph nodes in my mesentery, I’d take a bmb 100x over.
Good luck to you & I pray you find answers.

That was my experience as well. Minor level of soreness in the area where they took the sample, but the procedure itself was a non event.

Hi. I felt a very heavy pressure being applied to my back. It was like someone had the palm of their hand pressing into my back right above my butt. Take care, it will be fine 👍
