Mild anemia ?
Your numbers look almost exactly like mine. Have they checked you for iron deficiency?
No not yet for TBIC and % but same day as CBC i had B-12 high normal 1992 , Folate high 22.1 , Ferritin low normal 84.0 . Next labs in about 6 weeks.
What did they say about yours?
@wr61, it looks like you are concerned about your recent lab results.
According to this Mayo Clinic article:
- Low hemoglobin count: https://www.mayoclinic.org/symptoms/low-hemoglobin/basics/causes/sym-20050760
"A slightly low hemoglobin count isn't always a sign of illness — it can be normal for some people. Women with menstrual periods and pregnant women commonly have low hemoglobin counts."
What health concern do you have that led to your doctor ordering the blood count testing?
My iron was very low on the onset of my anemia two years ago. I’ve been on an iron supplement since then. I was completely checked out by my GI doctor and all is well there. He diagnosed me then as being “iron deficient.” Iron is now normal but I’m still “mildly anemic” with an 11.4 Hemoglobin and a 3.75 RBC. I’m seeing a hematologist who specializes in anemia on 5/15 to see why I’m still mildly anemic when iron levels are now normal.
What health concern do you have that led to your doctor ordering the blood count testing? 6 month Follow up labs for 2a-3b chronic kidney disease. Never had an out-of-range CBC ever. 😢 Active male, hike 3-5 miles most mornings. Thx for the reply 😎
Wow, we really are close in numbers. I have been on bariatric vitamins with 45mg iron for about 3 years and was shocked/scared when I saw those numbers. Went hiking 3.5 miles this morning and pushed it hard on the hills and was unable to trigger any symptoms. 😁 Waiting for the occult blood test to come back. See my PCP 5/17. Thankyou for the reply. Will continue to follow.👍
The CBC was ordered as a part of my six month Wellness check. I have to see my PCP every six months or he will not renew my prescriptions. I was feeling fatigued but no other symptoms of low iron. I did have colon cancer in 2012 so the first thing my PCP did was order GI tests. I am now cancer free but have this anemia to contend with.
