Internal body vibrations upon waking
For the last week, I have been waking up with my entire feeling internal vibrations. Very uncomfortable, not pain per se. Having your whole body feel like a buzzer is in your body. I have fibromyalgia. My 1st born son has epilepsy. I don’t have health insurance so my health care is minimal. I’m female, 62. When I was 52, a surgeon took out 80% of my colon without my permission. I was under care for my diverticulitis, but now have hypothyroidism. It’s been impossible for me to lose weight, and this week I’ve lost 5 lbs, I have no appetite. It’s very unsettling because it just keeps going like this until I go to bed.

SAME here re vibrations.... do not hurt but not pleasant because I think there is more going on than the vibrations as just dont feel ok when happening and right as wake up. Diagnozed with fibro years ago but had so many things happen to me since I almost forgot I had it, almost! I have hypothyroidism fro having right side removed re goitre on it. I have ibsd and fecal incontinence since C.Diff.. so I have an inkling of how you feel. Not a dr. of course , but i sometimes feel my bowel issues are causing the tremors/vibrations... it may be a jigsaw for you to find out and I hope you get some comments on here that can help you, 62 is too young to be going through all this! I am 79 and ill health has , as many millions of others, really affected my life,,, how I would love even one full day and night of good health! Best wishes, take care, J.
J, thank you for replying. Online it looks like a dr will diagnose as anxiety, even one article I read today stated, “ the brain can switch this on even directly upon waking”. Well, how in the world do you shut your brain off from this? I’ll keep looking, and hoping it’s just a glitch in my system. Kind regards, H
I too have fibro and hypothyrodism & Graves Disease (hyperthyroidism). I am being checked for RA soon. I do not have your symptoms and I am so sorry you are going through this. Fibro is hard enough and often times, other autoimmune issues tag along with it like thyroid disease. I pray you get some answers and relief. God Bless you.
My internal vibrations have been going on since 2019. They wake me up, or they did. It's weird because since getting the nasal cpap I've not had the vibrations. I think they are result of injury to phrenic nerve but my neurologist thinks they have something to do with over active central nervous system.
I’ve read that it actually is a syndrome that does stem from CNS. My issues are multiple, since I have fibro, every day I wake with my body feeling like it’s getting shocked. This is painful. Adding the vibrations, cold sweats that last all day and night, I really am hoping to get some support to combat all.
Honestly its ridiculous, I had spinal surgery, 3 months later severe vibrations, I AM IN NO DOUBT its spinal cord inflamation, MS or other related conditions, even my voice shakes now, THEY KNOW, ITS INCREASING, you ask the doctors, they say...ummm vibrations....sorry cant talk about that, but heres some more mind numbing nerve drugs that do not work!!!! Sending you to a pain clinic ..nutty doctor, what madness is this, Im 4 years on and now its taken over my life, auto immune disease...thyroid gone!!! Nothings done...they pretend its not real!!!
I am interested if the vibrations on awakening have still abated or if you feel they might be related to something other than the sleep apnea.
I too am at my wits end, every morning (2am) I get up and shortly thereafter I start shaking internally and crying and cannot stop for hours sometimes. I take a Klonapin for anxiety but it's lost it's effectivness and I have mentioned vibrations to my Rheumatologist and PCP and neither one had a comment. I have RA and Sjogrens but think it's Lupus but not diagnosed yet, in the meantime I'm 76 years old and have just about given up. My mother and my niece at 13 years old passed away from Lupus and my mom had Vasculitis not believed or treated till 6 months before she passed. What is wrong with doctors that never explain anything and causing more anxiety. I need to know what is wrong with me!
I am new to this. Just joined. I have interior body vibrations in my left upper chest when I wake up. Once I get up it quits. This has happened every morning/never missed a morning for 4 straight years. I have had a brain MRI, seen a neurologist/cardiologist/Rheologist all with no findings no concerns. Neurologist say nothing serious or life threatening, 10% of medical concerns have no diagnosis. Doctors have no concerns with anxiety/stress, and I don’t think either as Life is good other than this scary vibration. It’s one thing to get a diagnosis and understand how to deal/live with their situation. BUT not having a diagnosis for 4 years is very concerning. Any thoughts?
I started a similar thread here about 4 years ago. I have no health issues and don't take any medications. The vibrations started around the time COVID started but I don't think it is related. I also get vibrations in my lower chest or upper abdomen every time just as I am falling asleep and also just as I am waking up. They only last about 10-20 seconds. They were more intense when they first started and they really alarmed me. With no help from the doctors and nothing in my check ups to explain them, I came to the conclusion that they were not harmful and the less anxious I was about them make them less noticeable. I have them every single night and morning without fail still. I believe mine are related to some trigger in the rise and fall of one of the neuro/bio transmitters that are involved in the sleep process. Hope this is helpful .
