Nystagmus

Posted by mvanstem @mvanstem, Feb 15, 2023

Last year I spent 1 1/2 weeks at Mayo. They couldn’t squeeze in my eye appointment. I have a neurological condition with nystagmus. What kinds of tests does Mayo do for such testing? Trying to weigh whether I should come back for those tests

Hello @mvanstem, Welcome to Connect. I'm sorry they couldn't work an appointment in during your last visit.
Rochester Mayo Clinic has a great Ophthalmology department but it can be a waiting period to get an appointment due to the number of patients trying to get appointments. I had cataract surgery for both eyes at Rochester Mayo. Here's some information that covers how it's diagnosed and more:

You mentioned you are weighing whether you should go back for testing. Are the tests to confirm your diagnosis and possible treatments?

Looking for a second opinion with treatment options. Can’t afford appointments spread over 3–4 weeks like last year. Need some treatment options. Whenever I’m scheduled, Just need appointment not spread over weeks. Past practice leaves me in doubt
