I've had a constant cough for going on 7 years. I've seen ENT's, Pulmonologists, family doctors, and internists. No one has an answer. I've had MRI's, CAT scans, PET scant, x-rays. No one finds anything. I've taken all kinds of medications including steroid shots in my neck to no avail. I'm seeing a gastroenterologist next month. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Right now I'm taking symbicort, but it really doesn't help much if at all. Good luck in your journey for finding a cause/cure. Please report back if you do and so will I.

I have had a cough for 5 years now. Was told by one ENT that is was just a habit cough. I am now taking gabapentin (just upped it to 200 mg/day) and have started taking vitamin b12 and vitamin d supplements. I one of these help.

I had a horrible cough for many, many years -- even had to sit up in bed to sleep. Phlegm production was excessive but none of the local specialists in any field came up with an answer. Finally, 10 years ago I went to Mayo's in Rochester and within an hour they told me I had bronchiectasis and asked is I had ever heard of it. Of course I had not. So, it's been a journey now for 10 years. They told me it is not curable but that it can be managed. Just saying my experience. I'm 82 years old now and of course I am on nebulized meds daily and if it worsens, different approaches are taken. I hope this encourages you to go farther -- someone knows the answer.
