You mentioned “prednisolone”. Did you mean “prednisone”? I ask because I’m on both but the prednisolone is an eye drop. Most people that I know who are on prednisone do have the problem of weight gain because of the stimulated appetite. That includes me.
On the strip of tablets that I am taking is marked, "Prednisolone Tablets I.P." From Google:
Prednisone is a prodrug, meaning it chemically changes in your body after you swallow it. It then turns into its active form, prednisolone. Prednisone must be converted by liver enzymes to prednisolone before it can work.
Just back from medical oncologist
Since 40 days radiation in 2018, on and off Zolodex, radiation of L2 in 2021 and back on Zolodex, then Jan 2023 when PSA went from 1.2 to 4.0 to 9.8 I got on Enzalutamide and it dropped to 4.1 in 6 weeks and now to 1.7 in next 4 weeks so its working
Just added XGEVA injections every 3 months to push calcium from blood back into bones, but I must take 1,220 mg of calcium daily
I was on Xgeva for 2 1/2 months after my last chemo infusion. I developed necrosis of the jaw, as a side effect. A hole in the soft tissue in the bottom of my mouth opened up. I could feel bone with my tongue. Ultimately, the necrotic bone tissue came partially lose and dental surgeon pulled it through the hole. The hole closed up on its own. It was kinda cool in a weird kind of way. No problems now, and, no pain ever in the whole episode. Off the Xgeva. This is a rare side effect by the way. Good idea to watch for signs of it anyway.

I never checked to see how they differ; I just knew they were both steroids and the similar names suggests that. Thank you. I take prednisolone in the form of eye drops (AMD, post cataract surgery issues).
I go to Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga
Excellent oncology team
New 2.9 million MRI that is 10 times better

Thanku for the info
My understanding is it was supposed to build up my bone, tissue and bone marrow so I had greater white blood cell production.
Yes take calcium from the blood and push it into the bones for density
No nothing about white blood cells
One must take 1200 MG calcium daily important
