Slow degradation of my vision. Seeing a retina specialist

Posted by Bonita @bonitav, May 19, 2015

After a slow degradation of my vision, especially close as in computer usage, saw optician and after eye exam, received new lenses. Not much improvement, so I scheduled appointment with an ophthalmologist, who diagnosed very dry eyes, but with bleeding behind the retina in my left eye. Referred me to a retina specialist whom I see tomorrow. Any ideas what could be causing this other than retina detachment? About two years ago, had laser treatment for floaters. Wonder if this is related to that procedure. Can this also be related to a vascular problem? Thanks!

@rosemarya So lucky indeed! 🙂 Wondering if you are taking supplements. I take ICaps, and they seem to work. 🙂

I do not take vitamins for my vision. When I mentioned it early in my treatment, I was told that they were not going to have an effect on my condition. I might mention it again, just in case.
I have to be very cautious of taking anything that might interfere with my antirejection medications for my organ transplant.
I do have drops for pressure.

@rosemarya Thanks for your message, I am getting used to the system 🙂
I was lucky to see a specialist visiting from Canada during my visit to the eye hospital who told me that I was about to have a detachment, my vision was so poor, that I think I wouldn't have been able to tell. I did see flashes and very weird stuff. He had booked me for surgery the next morning, I was blessed to have him see me the day before.

@bonitav Hi Bonita, I have had bleeding without detachment. There are a variety of reasons: https://www.aao.org/eyenet/article/vitreous-hemorrhage-diagnosis-treatment-2.
Good luck with your appointment, keep us posted 🙂
