I just now read your post. I am still dealing with the same. I hope you are doing better.
Today was the worst bout of anxiety I’ve ever experienced. I have never experienced such a terrible panic attack. I never had one until long Covid. I wonder if anyone has found anything to help this on -going anxiety. I don’t want to get hooked on a benzodiazepine.
But I came very close to going to the ER tonight. I have a knee procedure scheduled for tomorrow. I don’t want to cancel and then have wait for another appointment. I’m trying to get through it all. Sometimes the only thing that helps me is to get through the worst of it, then get online with the mayo.org group when I can sit at my computer. It’s true that it helps to know others understand what you’re going through. I am truly thankful for the people I’ve “met” here. God Bless you all.

I’m also going through the same symptoms since I had covid last November 2022. I am anxious by nature but now it’s anxiety with depression, hot flashes, palpitations and sweating. I finally spoke to the doctor and he first said I shouldn’t blame everything on covid.. I did explain that it started with covid, however he ordered tests for me and aside from being mildly anemic and low in vitamin d I was fine. I’m very happy they didn’t find anything but I still have symptoms

I had covid May 2022, and had long covid symptoms for 6 months after. My anxiety was horrific, which was followed by depression. I tried to take antidepressants but had a very bad reaction . The only thing that seemed to help was a magnesium supplement, and when I was able to build up my strength again, low impact exercise, and time.

That’s the plan I’m on, magnesium and energy management. Also high intake of B-12 can help. I’m on Sertraline and it’s been increased a couple times to now 75mg but feel that’s still a low dose. It’s definitely helped!

I tried lowest dose of setraline 25mg and had very bad reaction- palpations, diarrhea, insomnia. So after a week I stopped taking it.

I got Covid in late January 2022 and about 6 weeks later developed severe anxiety. My Dr prescribed Sertraline (Zoloft). I started at 25mg/day for 2 weeks, then increased to 50mg/day. After three months, I felt my anxiety levels had reduced, so I started tapering off the Sertraline by reducing the dosage to 25mg/day for ten days. It's been one month now, and my anxiety seems back to normal. However, I'm still suffering with sleeping problems that started out suddenly as severe insomnia. I began taking Trazadone to help, 50-100 mg/night. It helped me fall asleep but I woke up every 2 hrs while on it. After three months, I began to tapering off. Now I only take it 1/4 to 1/2 of a 50mg pill as needed (1-2 nights a week). However, I am still waking up every 1.5 to 2 hrs every night, so am still not getting restful sleep. I saw a Dr specializing in sleep issues and her only solution was putting me on hypnotic drugs (like Ambien) which I didn't want to take. I am seeing a different sleep Dr this week but expect he will just push drugs also.

I am 85 and have had covid symptoms since October 2021. Sleeplessness, uti's, constipation, feel like a zombi when I get out of bed and it takes me awhile to get somewhat normal. Because I wasn't sleeping, I went to see a nerve doctor thinking it as neuropathy. The nerve doctor told me it was restless leg syndrome and put me on 100 mg of Gabepentin and told me to increase it little by little up to 3 times. I was taking 3 pills a night and slept all the way through the night. But then sleepy all morning till noon and not myself. Now I have cut it to one pill and not getting a good sleep. I want to stop Gabepentin totally but its like my body is tense, nervous inside, and not relaxed at all when I am in bed. I even bought a new mattress but that wasn't it. I have nothing to be anxious about. Since I was in the hospital approx. 1 month. I couldn't sleep in the hospital but I thought it was because I wasn't 'in my own bed.

In my case I think It’s just too big of a coincidence to develop this extreme anxiety, along with other symptoms after having Covid. I got Covid before it was even talked about. Then afterwards, the texture of my hair changed and then started to fall out. I continued to get other odd symptoms and finally discovered I have long Covid. The puzzle fell into place. I wasn’t blaming everything on Covid because I did not know about Covid. It was almost a relief to discover a name for what all was happening to me. I wish the medical community would start taking these symptoms seriously. I’ve had rheumatoid arthritis for most of my life and just had knee surgery but nothing compares to this long Covid. I feel as though my body was attacked.
