Post surgery with several lymph nodes positive went on Lupron for 15+ years.
Hot flashes resolved quickly and good control of PSA until eventual bony metastasis and switched to zoladex.
Many ongoing treatments, chemo, hormones radioactive radium and will start lutetium.
What was discovered about lupron, and other ADH treatments I suppose, is the occurrence of coronary artery disease which resulted in CAD and bypass surgery in a guy with no risks for CAD: low cholesterol, high HDL cholesterol and 4-6 hours/week of vigorous exercise:running, tennis, hiking ……
Control risk factors and talk to doc about Lupron and risk of heart disease. It’s real but I was/am on ADH treatment for 20 years and still alive.
The other inevitable is loss of muscle mass which is very significant. Good question for doc.

Currently I get a monthly infusion of Zometa, this helps to strengthen bones
There hasn't been any further movement of cancer in the bones

Many of the androgen receptor inhibitors
( Xtandi,Erleada, more ) average about 3.5 years before the cancer advances, but for some lucky guys, longer. Additionally there is radiation and several types of chemo after androgen receptors inhibitors and they are making amazing progress in developing new treatments. I was on Erleada for 13 months and now they monitor me every couple of months. Hence, you may not have enough time to pay off a 30 year mortgage, but you have enough time to buy and pay off a new car. I just bought a honda and doing my best to have a really good life.

Best wishes; my husband is on chemo now, first time. Similar background to you; aggressive cancer. We’re focused on new medicines always evolving to keep going, multi-years preferable. He is age 65.
