Dizziness with ckd

Most nephrologists swear by Farxiga. If your brother looks at the side effects, he may be in that group. I followed my trend before Farxiga and after the 2 times that I had taken it. I should have learned my lesson the first time, but the second time got me back again into Stage 4, and I knew I had to stop that medication. It took me nearly 3 months to get back to Stage 3A.

This is interesting Fraxiga actually pushing people into the next stage of CKD. Did you stop Torsemide as well ?

I took Torsemide two years ago first recommended by a nephrologist and ended up at the Mayo ER after a few months. I stopped that immediately as my GFR went to Stage 4. Towards the end of last year, I stopped taking Farxiga because my nephrologist at the time said to do so. It was a 5mg dose and the kidney dose is 10mg. I started again with a new Mayo nephrologist and he said it was good. After another 4 months, I stopped again because I touched the tip of Stage 4 with fatigue, frequent urination, and nauseous. It was not worth it. I feel so much better now that I am off it. As I said in another post, just because a company advertises so frequently on the TV daily does not make it a great product. For me, it was not helpful in any way.

@roshkhan I am diabetic and have a history of hypertension (the two leading causes of CKD). My local healthcare team includes an endocrinologist and nephrologist. I also have access to a nutritionist that is knowledgeable about diabetes & CKD. I try to comply with labs, medications and dietary recommendations. The most helpful thing for me has been my faith. I am a Christian and have put my life and every aspect of it in God’s hands. I believe it is my responsibility to take care of myself the best I can and make use of all the medical / health resources I can find then leave the results in God’s hands. From 2016 - the present my eGFR has bounced around between 14 - 42. It is currently 29. I don’t need to understand God’s timing & plan for me to trust that it is ultimately for my good.

Thank you for your response @cehunt57 . Good to hear about the belief part , I see how faith has helped many hoping my brother can do the same. Again it’s God’s plan , we can just pray and try our best.

I’m stage 3a ckd. Diagnosed 6 months ago.
Currently so dizzy like I’ve had 3 cocktails. I don’t drink.
My doctors do not help. They don’t know. What doctor is the right one? Is my dizziness due to the ckd? TY

I have the same problem dizziness with stage 3b and my doctors did not help either. Currently taking .50mg losartan for H/P. So I don’t know if it is kidney disease or H/P.

I am stage 3a, diagnosed in 3/2020, dizziness during morning hours and sometimes irregular pulse sound when I measure BP, both my PCP and Nephrologist said my CT Scan was okay, I end up in ER in 2/2022 unrelated problem, was referred to Cardiologist, he made me wear a heart monitor for two weeks, when he reviewed the data, he said my heart rate was very low at night, sometimes below 40 bpm and he made a stat order and I received pace-maker in less than 2 months after that. My dizziness has gone away since the pace-maker implant and I am still at stage 3a and feel more normal.
I don't know if it has anything to do with reduced protein-intake, I don't do that anymore, I eat as much plant protein as my body can consume and some animal protein.

I have chromophobe renal cell carcinoma. I got dizzy on a beautiful walk last Saturday. I stopped. It scared me. I will bring it up to my doctor at my next appt.

I’m weighing in here about dizziness and chronic kidney disease (CKD). I have stage 4 CKD due to Diabetes. Both of these put me at a greater risk for heart & stroke problems. I have an endocrinologist & nephrologist. My nephrologist prescribes & manages my blood pressure medications. Every time I have a follow up appointment with my nephrologist he reviews my medications and asks if I have any dizziness or get lightheaded. I have had both on occasion over the years and he has adjusted the medications.
