Feeling strong dizziness all of a sudden
Good Morning Everyone!
Those last two weeks I have had some dizziness all of a sudden, everything started to spin, even with my eyes closed. Last week, I had this first episode when lying in bed for a night's sleep. The next day, I was pretty tired and rested and then all was OK again. This Wednesday, it occurred again when lying down for relaxation in my yoga practice. Besides the dizziness, I had a heat wave all of a sudden, headache, and felt some pressure in my chest, right side. And sometime after, I felt very cold. As this time the dizziness persisted, I went to the first aid station at a hospital that is specialized in Otorhinolaryngology as I thought I might be having some labyrinthitis. The doctor who assisted me noticed a predominance of the right labyrinth over the left one, prescribing a med for the dizziness and recommending an onto neurological assessment. The doctor added saying that this might be associated with my epilepsy. I am feeling better, though still not at my normal. I must say that during those two last weeks, I had much stress with my mother's health. There has been no change in the medication that I have been taking for a long time now.
Did anyone had this experience before? How has this dizziness been treated? Did anyone do an onto neurological assessment?
Thank you very much if you could share your experiences with me.
Have a nice weekend!

I agree you shouldn't have to switch medications and play Russian roulett. Some patients can have no problem switching while others do. It’s not fair to put you in the position of possibly having seizures again, or the physical, emotional and possible financial along with the everyday consequences that go along with seizures. Your doctor has the ability to keep you on your current medication. Mine always did.

Hi there,
I was curious if your doctor diagnosed your dizziness.
I haven't had the dizziness where things spin. Mine was when I looked at a specific object it moved back and forth slowly but impacted my balance and I had to crawl. I still fell just closer to the floor. This morning I was picking up something I dropped and fell. I grabbed a cabinet door and ripped it off and tore it in half.

Hi Jake, hope you are doing well. Yes, my doc agreed we should stay on current med. I was attempting to get the cost lowered (or rather what insurance paid) but waste of time. Got a letter today asking if I wanted to appeal the appeal!! Had to laugh. Not worth the stamp. Thank you for the response and have many blessings today. Bas

I’d fight it and ask the doctor for his help.
I fought a decision by my Moms insurance company. Appealed it twice and lost because those decisions were made by the insurance company but the 3rd time an outside agency decided in our favor.

I feel like I’ve had some symptoms of almost what others have. ☺️ I’ve been having sleeping problems I have visuals I wake up to see a person walk by me in my room( stranger) that just flows in turns and disappears I can describe the figure head to toe but it doesn’t resemble anyone I know Not sure if eyes are open but looks real. My Dr feels I’m having Olfactory hallucinations I sometime gets a distinct unidentified smell in one nostril and then I get shaky in both arms then hot and dizzy only last about a minute then it’s done. I do live aside of a cemetery so maybe I see ghosts 👻🫣
Thank you Jake for the advice. I’m going to let it sit a few days and then see how I feel. I let the situation upset me and shouldn’t make a decision based on emotion. Appreciate you- Baa
Hi @baa
I can understand your anger very well. It is sad still to see in our current "modern" world that so many institutions and companies in the health sector just focus on getting more money, leaving the human aspect aside.
Here in Brazil, we do not get medications reimbursed by our insurance. But there are still many doctors that prescribe a certain medication not because it is the best for the patient, but because they get certain benefits from the pharma industry. I know it as I have worked in the pharma industry early in my career, having left this sector because it was not consonant with my values.
I see the reaction of your doctor as a very positive one, a doctor that looks for what is best for his or her patients. I am happy for you that you are in good hands!
As to your fear, I can also understand it well. Who would not feel fearful in a situation of a tornado? Try to do your best to be as safe as possible. That God protects you! And as you well said we can not control everything.
With you in my thoughts. Please continue sending your news. Hope this tornado goes away very soon!

What did you doctor say was the cause.
Doesn't Olfactory relate to smell? What about the visual hallucination?
Did he do any kind of tests?
you might want to discuss with him, whether or not you’re having temporal lobe seizures and ask him if he would order in brain MRI and an EEG or send you to a Neurologist or other specialist. Have you had any type of head trauma in the past or recently?
Did your doctor do anything that's suppose to help them or tell you nothing can be done? Do you feel well when this happens? smelling things that aren’t there is at all that unusual but you have other symptoms and it doesn’t sound as though your doctor took those into account

@santosha
Are you still having dizzy spells?
Do you have any other symptoms accompanying the dizziness either before, during or after?
I wonder if these could be Focal Aware seizures.
Don't you usually have Focal Aware seizures or is my memory not functioning again?
Hi Jake (@jakedduck1)
I had an appointment with my doctor this last Thursday. Yesterday, I repeated an otoneurological exam and came out of it very dizzy. Results will be available on the 10th of Abril. Let's see what comes out. I will share it with you and the group over here.
