Wearing mask to avoid additional germs?

Posted by elizabethjoy @elizabethjoy, Mar 26, 2023

Do y'all think it's wise to wear masks around people to avoid getting something on top of what we already have? My family is worried even a cold would be dangerous as weak as I seem now. I have left-over "pneumonia" in both lungs (ground glass opacity), had covid months ago, maybe another case earlier, too, because symptoms started last summer.

I still mask, and will for the foreseeable future. I also wear large sunglasses to avoid to avoid my eyes being conduits for COVID (yes, that's a real thing), and a big sunhat to protect my face from the sneezes and coughs of others. It's not just COVID, there are also a ton of nasty upper respiratory viruses circulating. I have nodules in my lungs, which they think are from aspirating stomach acid. I had pneumonia from September until January. It's not fun.

The Washington Post has interviewed experts three times since COVID began to see what they're doing and not doing to protect themselves. The most recent interview was earlier this month, and is very interesting. Here's a link to it. I am so sorry. I too am battling more upper respiratory infections since Covid last year and my immune system is weaker. I still wear a mask too. What a horrible virus that touches everybody so differently. My heart goes out to you immensely. God Bless!
