Undiagnosed Abdominal Pain

Posted by maggiew3 @maggiew3, Mar 22, 2023

I have been suffering for 10+ years from an undiagnosed abdominal pain. My doctors have just told me anxiety. Usally I feel like I'm going to throw up, but never do. Rarely I get a bad headache and stomach ache and then throw up. Recently I have been feeling really lightheaded and weak, either before or after I eat. The only thing that seems to help that is DPT. My abdominal pain can feel like cramps or in the same area, like pinching, sometimes I want to cry(because I am tired of being in pain), and I havn't had solid stools in 2 or so months. There are foods like milkshakes and pineapple that I have stopped eating because everytime I eat/drink them I get very nausues. But one day I will eat oatmeal for breackfast and 3 days later the exact same thing, and I have to go to the nurse at school it hurts so bad. There are no similarities from journaling my feelings. Does anyone know of any gut doctors or what this might be? I don't want to be in pain forever.

In order to assist, it would be good to offer more details:
-- what have you tried to get relief over these 10 yrs?
-- Have you heard of the FODMAP diet? It is a diet meant to remove mostly carbs from your diet, which ferment and cause gastro symptoms.
-- not reporting diarrhea? That may be helpful.
-- are you sure you do not have constipation? What is frequency of BM's, and consistency.
-- Last time you had a "regular" BM?

- I have gone to many doctors. GI, family doctors, hospitals, etc. I have tried glueten free and dairy free for 2+ months 3 times and no sugar for a month.
- I am currently working on the FODMAP diet, but I seem to have more headaches.
- No constipation.
- I can't remember, but around New Years.

As you have found gut problems are extremely complicated and most docs have no clue, it seems. Here are some basics to check which you may have not done:
-- find out if you have SIBO(small intestine bacterial overgrowth). It has many causes but the most common is bacteria normally residing in the Colon migrates upward into the small intestine. These bacteria react with carbs and other things to cause both hydrogen and methane gas, mostly. These can be sensed. Search on "aerodiagnostics" and buy a test and take this to your MOST trusted doc or better yet an Integrated medicine doc.
-- on line solutions are possible too: Search "digestivehealthinstitute.org"
AND "sibo.info" "sibo.sos"
The on line stuff will educate you and none of this is simple to understand or INexpensive. You must steal yourself for the battle ahead.
There IS hope. Do not give up.

Good luck kiddo.

you REALLY NEED to see what is called an integrated medicine doctor. You will not find them at Mayo or at your "normal" allopathic doctor's office.

It appears there are many people who allopathic docs simply are not helping / understanding when it comes to GI issues.
search: "ifm"

Do not waste your time any longer.
But get ready to pay cash on the order of $300/hr for their services-- very few(virtually none) will take insurance. Still, don't just trust "any" one of these. First one I tried after spending over $500 for his "time" and $800 on specialized testing wanted me to take 960 pills in 30 days to start to solve my problem.
Another route: find a nutritionist or dietician through other alternative med clinics like a chiropractic office etc. That is what I am doing.
Finally, read up on "SIBO" and the "elemental diet"
It makes sense, at a minimum, to get tested for SIBO(specialized stool test + aerodiagnostics company or equal breath test)

search terms:
SIBO info
hollywood homestead
digestive health institute

Finally, good luck.
This will be a long quest. However, I have just saved you some time IF you follow up.

Hi! How are your periods? Have you heard of endometriosis? Also do you have any history of abdominal or pelvic surgeries?

REPLY

My periods are on time and normal. Yes, I talked to my doctors, and they don't think it's that. And No.
