@kravmaga

Saw a physiologist yesterday.
Of course they tried to talk me into an ablation which I am not to keen on doing for a variety of reasons.
We settled on me taking flecainide.
Wondering does anyone take it too.
And what your experience with it may be.
Thanks

I had an ablation two weeks ago, and after my follow up visit and a 24 hour Holter, I was started on Flecainide to treat not my AFIB, but residual arrhythmias that evidently persist. My EP said I might only need it during the "blanking period", which is several months post ablation. The surgery was four and a half hours under general anesthesia, so I don't think it is unusual I still feel pretty listless, but no worse because of the Flecainide I don't think No better either though, but it is still early, so we'll see.

Hi @kravmaga, I moved your questions about Flecainide to this existing discussion so you can easily connect with other members taking this medication like @gogiddy @mathprice @kat1251 and others along with @tedalmon.

Hi Krav,
I have several heart rhythm issues, including AFib, PACs, PVCs, tachycardia and bradycardia. I am followed by both Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology providers. They have been so helpful.

I was started on 50 mg of Flecainide and 5 mg of Eliquis after a 7 hour episode of AFib over a year ago. I did not have any side effects, but I slowly tapered the meds down to 1/4 of a tablet of each twice a day, and I have not had any AFib episodes or serious arrhythmias. I attribute my success to following the guidelines in the book AFib Cure written by two esteemed Cardiac Electrophysiologists. This is a fabulous book that I highly recommend you read. It can be purchased on Amazon.

Diet and Exercise were important components for my success. I quickly learned that exercise needs to be customized for each person. It has taken me over a year to find a home program that works for me , and to slowly increase my duration of exercise without triggering arrhythmias. I have also been working with a physical therapist on strength training, diaphragm breathing, and balance.

I carefully monitor my heart's response to exercise with an Apple Watch, Lookee Tech 2 lead ECG, Nonin Connect or Lookee Tech Sleep pro oximeter, and Omron wrist blood pressure. I can quickly see when I have pushed my heart too hard by drops in my blood oxygen level, slight chest pain, and arrhythmias appearing.

I am now jogging indoors 6 miles (12 minute/mile) within my target heart rate zone for my age of 69. I rarely see anymore arrhythmias. I feel like I have cured my AFib through lifestyle changes.

I wish you the best in finding an integrated program to help improve your heart health.
