Has anyone had Nausea that won't go away.

Posted by peeteer22 @peeteer22, Mar 6, 2023

I have been nauseous for months. I'm a 9 out of 10 ( 10 trowing up)
I have been taking Ondansetron 8mg without much success.
I don't know how much more I can take. It is torture.

clutch,
I have been on one Benzo or another for a good 1-1/2 years.
I have taken them as prescribed. When I needed more on occasion,
I took one. But after a while I complained that they didn't help much
anymore, so he started me on another benzo. I have not tried anything
except Zofran and Ginger for nausea. I don't think Zofran is the answer
because if I take more Ativan as I said in the above post, the nausea
for the most part slowly goes away.

The Ativan is 1mg. up to 4/day

Frouke,
I think that is the problem. When the Ativan wears off, the nausea starts.
Then when I take them, the nausea starts to decrease.
So if I am nauseous most of the time, am I not taking enough Ativan? and
that my body is getting used to the medication? And am hooked?

I think you’re getting to know how this drug works, I don’t know how long you’ve been taking them. I can tell you that it gets harder the longer you stay on them. These type of meds should only be given for a quick fix like a bandage, unfortunately some doctors prescribe them on an ongoing basis. They are very difficult to stop and you must only do so with help from a professional. I curse the day I took my first one, I have an addictive nature so it was truly a poor choice for me and the doctor to make. I wish success with this and also to let you know that lots of people do get off them, the sooner, the better it will be for you, amen.

I'm looking into going into detox from the Zoloft and Lorazepam.
I'm definitely hooked on this s........t.
We have our hospital close by and they have detox programs for alchohol
and meds. I'll call them tomorrow and get some info.
I somehow didn't take the Lorazipam yesterday and this morning I began to
feel VERY ill. I took 1 pill and began feeling a little better. I take one in the
morning, one at about 6 pm, and one at about 10 pm. Even with these, I feel
that I could use another pill. So I'm trying to detox from 2 meds.

REPLY

Has anyone thought about detox? Why or when you would, or why not?
Who has tried to taper off? Have you been successful? If so, how did you do it?
I'm taking 4 - 1mg Lorazepam pills a day and am afraid to take more.
Where do I get 'Prince of Peace' Ginger Chews?

Peeteer, I’m really happy to hear that you are making this positive decision for your own well-being…I am confident that you will ace this program because you really want to and I say this from experience when I quit smoking. I wish you good luck and hope you will keep us informed as to how you’re progressing.

@peeteer22 ,
The ginger chews are available on Amazon. Not all pharmacies will have them, however our Food Lion Grocer has them. They are good for fast, temporary relief.
Ativan, itself, works well against nausea for some, but it seems to me to be the culprit here, in your case, rather than solution. And regarding your inquiry about detox programs: Don’t waste time and money there! They generally know little about benzo detox. Look up the gold-standard guide, The Ashton Manual. There you will find everything you need, except perhaps a good and willing provider to help you out of this hell-hole.
In the meantime, have you tried phenergan for nausea relief? How about a The Relief Band that you wear on your wrist which uses electric pulses to mitigate symptoms?
Let me know your reaction to my thoughts and how you are doing. Hang in there…it can and will be better!

clutch,
I'll get the chews from Amazon. I found the Ashton manual to download.
I'll look into phenergan and the Relief Band. The manual has about 100
pages, so it will take some time to look through and study what and how to
go about withdrawal of the Zoloft and Ativan. I need to find out what to
do about withdrawing from 2 benzoes. Together or one at a time
You don't know how much this info is appreciated.
Are you still taking benzos? Or have you managed to get them out of your
system?
Pete

@peeteer22 ,
Go to the section in the manual that gives specific timeline and reduction amounts for tapering. I’d talk to my doctor, but I think you’ll have more success tapering one drug at a time. I tried to rush two at the time and paid a high price! Ashton only addresses benzo tapering. You will need to look elsewhere for the Zoloft, perhaps a search here on Mayo Connect.
I only take .25 mg/day of lorazepam, currently and that’s only because that amount helped keep the nausea in check. Let me know how it’s going and how I can help. It will get better, even though that’s hard to visualize right now!

Yes, I have been vomiting for the past year. I also suffer with depression and anxiety both. However, I don't think this is the true cause of mine. I also take odanestran ?
Of.course,it doesn't always stay down. I havevomited so much I had ruptured vessels in my eyes. Maybe 1 day I will figure it out. It's absolutely awful, so I truly sympathize with you.
