Hi @gerardcame, Welcome to Connect, an online community where you can share your experiences and find support from other patients. I moved this discussion to the Eye, Ear, Nose & Throat group to connect you with other members.
Antibiotics have helped but still get it the odd time. I have never had a problem with the feeling that I want to burp - not much but a little burp and that is when I get a small thump in my ear. Don't know what is causing that bit of gas so will ask when I see the Doctor.
About 2 weeks ago I noticed the same thing in my right ear. I hear it more when I just wake up. It’s isolated in my right ear. It’s not rhythmic, more sporadic and fast so it’s not linked to my pulse. When I fully plug my ear it goes away, maybe because of the pressure.

I have noticed the same thing, i have to burp but cant seem to get it all out and i get a rapid pulse in my right ear. I have also noticed my right eye is seeming to get blurry over the past few months
I have periodic thumping in my right ear for a month or so. It does not match my pulse. I have had ringing in both ears for couple years. Today I am trying a decongestant. Any other ideas?
What is causing a sporadic thumping sound in my left ear?

I wonder if you might have pulsatile tinnitus. Here some information about tinnitus and pulsatile tinnitus.

Have you been to see your doctor about the thumping? When does it happen?
It most happens if I give even a little burp but can come on anytime.
Hello @loisde! Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect! Thank you for commenting on this thread.
Do you also experience thumping sounds in your ear?
Yes and my Dr. has put me on antibiotics so will see what happens. Have had periodic thumping for the last couple months.
@cinnamon, are you still experiencing thumping in your ear? Have you been seen by a medical professional for a proper diagnosis ?
@loisde, have the antibiotics helped?
please let us know how you are both doing.
